New Entry Into Space

SpaceX (a California-based aerospace company) is planning on launching its Dragon space capsule early Saturday morning (before dawn) from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The launch was supposed to take place a couple of weeks ago but was delayed. SpaceX is optimistic about the success of the launch but stopping short of guaranteeing a success.

The Dragon will go to ISS (International Space Station) and dock with the ISS. In the future it will carry supplies and equipment. Eventually, it can carry human cargo.

This is the latest chapter in space flight, and the first to be done with privat enterprise and resources.

That Was A Fun Seven Minutes

Because of the new AR layout that collapses all of posts except the current one and hides all previous comments until the posts are reopened, I just spent 7 minutes opening up the past 10 posts to see if I had missed seeing and responding to any comments.

Most of the time resulted from the snail's pace that AR is running crawling. I spent so much time waiting for pages to load. It seems after the first week at this new look that the promise of faster loads has been just the opposite.

I like nothing about the new look - absolutley nothing.

I just got an email from an online retailer promoting low prices, and the subject line was "You could be saving money right now."

I thought to myself, I am saving money right now because I am not buying anything at the moment - online or in-person. Therefore, I am saving money right now. Thanks for noticing.

Time to 86 the G8

The G8 Summit is once again bringing together the world's leaders as they jet off from their homelands to a vacation destination - this time Camp David in Maryland - leaving their posts and spending millions of dollars that their countries can ill-afford to shell out for travel, staffing, and security. All for meetings which don't need to occur.

This is not the 1940s or 50s when people needed to travel to one location to meet face-to-face. It's not even the 1990s or early 2000s when economies were much more robust and travel and entertainment were more acceptable expenditures.

This is now, and such extravagance needs to stop.

With technology being what it is, secure videoconferencing can put all 8 leaders in the same room virtually at the same time to see each other and talk. They can do this from the comfort of their normal office, and no one needs to be inconvenienced by the travel and disruption.

This will eliminate protesters, security concerns at the venue as well as lodging sites, disruption of traffic at the host location, and the need for formal meals.

Time to deep 6 or 86 the G8 in its present form. This is not a perk that taxpayers want to provide.

I am quite fond of looking at and photographing clouds. Jennifer has captured a beautiful panarama of clouds that are worth sharing - their colors, shapes, intensity, and flow.

I have always been fascinated by cloud formation. Whenever I am at the beach, I find my self day-dreaming and watching the clouds float by. Some clouds move really slow while other seem to be in a hurry just like the people we encounter daily.

Bing Didn't Make It

Bing, the Microsoft search engine and browser, has never been one of my favorites to use. It's search results are so different than Google. Not a big fan of the look either.

Today, I get an email from them announcing a new look. While I don't know that this will change my opinion of the site, I am open to looking at it. Maybe it will be the huge improvement they suggest.

However, what happens, when I use either of the links they provide in their message? Not much. It takes me to a serach of movies. I type in the name of the URL - still takes me to a movie search.

For now I'll have to take their word that they have or are upgrading their site, and they'll have to live with the fact that I am still unimpressed.

Palm Beach County Just Got Easier To Visit

Yesterday, JetBlue began nonstop service between West Plam Beach and San Juan, Puerto Rica. That makes visiting the San Juan area or coming from there to Palm Beach much more convenient. Ft' Lauderdales had been the nearest airport offering such service.

Air Canada also added a second daily flight to Toronto from West Palm Beach.

It's never been easier to get to West Palm Beach. Come on down, up, or over. We'd love to see you.

Did I Really Type That?

Alright. who put the comma next to the period on the keyboard? It's so easy to mistake one for the other. what with them looking so much alike, and being next to each other, Can change the whole meaning of things. and make what I said not what I meant, Put one on the left side of the keyboard. and the other where it is now, Maybe one on the top row. and the other where it is now. or close to the current position, It's amazing how many times I get them mixed up when typing. and I end up punctuating my text incorrectly,
