I think that "focus" is one of the most important words to use in business - and in life for that matter. Whether it's working on goals or daily tasks, focus gets us directed toward the finish line.
Success often is not measured - or even accomplished - just by the length of time someone pursues an activity, but by how diligent and on-point they were along the way. In a word, this is focus.
With today's NCAA men's basketball tournament getting underway - "March Madness" as it is called - there are 64 hopeful entrants. Some have more physical talent than the other teams, and some enter the tournament seemingly better prepared by virtue of the caliber of teams they've played along the way. Still, it's anybody's tournament until the first game is played.
This got me thinking about focus. There are just 6 wins required from the opening round until the crowning of the national champion - 6 wins. Now, there can be no miscues along the ways, no muilligans. This is win or go home.
Neverteless, with extreme focus, and that should help with the execution, a team - without looking past their current opponent to the next game (for which there may be no "next game") - needs to win just 6 games in a row to gain the crown.
Focus on each game and win it, but focus on the total task of 6 wins total, and you've got a national title vision.

Good Post! Louisville all the way in the NCAA and go Kentucky in the NIT!
Yes Focus is so key and good reminder and tie in to the start of march madness today!!!
Connie,
We'll see. I'm watching a few teams. Miami won in the NIT last night. :)
Steve
Bob,
Today is the college basketball junkie's big day - non stop basketball for half the day. :)
Steve
Steve, No rest for the weary in the NCAA Tournament, or you're watching the finish from your TV. University of Maryland may have squeaked in but we're in to win. Rich
Funny that the tourney is called "madness." At times that's how I feel when trying to stay focused! When it comes to focus it's all about making the decision to not let outside influences take you OFF course. It's about defining all the factors of your journey before starting and deciding what could stop you and what will NOT stop you! Here's to staying, as you say, ON POINT!
There is a radio program you may be interested in called "Intentional Living" with Randy Carlson. The show is expressly devoted to helping listeners live an intentional life in ALL the various areas in your life.
Without intention or focus- you aren't going to really get anywhere you want to be (except maybe by sheer luck). Living an intentional life is more fulfilling AND you are that much more likely to get to where you are hoping to go (figuratively speaking).

Rich,
Everyone who makes it through this weekend will have a much better idea of their chances. :)
Steve
Camine,
Thanks - great comments. Focus also lets us fend off unproductive activities that arise during our journey. :)
Steve

Thank you. I'll look for the program to see where it airs. Appreciate your comments. :)

Hi Steve
March madness makes for a very interesting month for college basketball fans.
Good luck and success

Steve,
That is good advice. Sometimes it is easy to lose track of the big picture, instead focusing on some minor bickering or unimportant elements of life.
Ryan,
Focus, determination, grit - all important to stay in the hunt, survive, and succeed. :)
Steve
Lou,
I don't think there are any Florida teams in the Show this year. :)
Steve
Steve,
Thanks. When you have focus, you deflect distractions. :)
Steve
Great post! Great reminder for us all. Thanks!
Steve...
But one loss, and you're out. So focus is key every minute of every game!
Jennifer,
