Maybe with a portion of that nearly $800 billion spending spree program, they can find a few bucks to purchase a dictionary. I don't think the administration or Congress know the meaning of the word stimulus - and the really sad part is that I'm not sure they care.
Spending is clearly the issue, and the underlying premise seems to be that if you spend enough money to get enough people beholding to you, they'll want even more and then you'll be able to ride this horse for a long time.
Strange how a stimulus bill as massive and as secretive as this (nearly 1,000 pages that virtually no one has read in its entirety) has over half (a reported 53%) of the expenditures slated to occur after 2011.
And here I thought that a stimulus was designed to provide immediate relief and growth.

Ha! Very well said! It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for us... uggghhh! Have a good weekend!
that's a funny take on what has been a stressful process for everyone in trying sort out the big financial mess that this country is in. Perhaps they could throw in a thesaurus for good measure and at least keep a book seller in business for a day?
Steve,
With what we're going thru now, with all the confusion and uncertainty, how are our CHILDREN & GRANDCHILDREN ever going to get out from under this MESS???... Great blog!!

Steve, I don't think I have ever been more disappointed in our Congresspeople. When it came to light that it was full of just spending and they started relooking at it, I really believed that they would fix it. Stupid me.
....aaannnnddd this is what happens when the government sticks their hands in. When has a stimulus ever truly worked? I fear this will be the bginning of a long and even more expensive four years, possibly more expensive than the past eight years have been. - Kat
Why Steve...
It would be just silly for you to think THAT! lol
Paul,
Thank you. I just heard a Congresswoman say that this was "a great first step" and that it needed to be larger. :)
Steve
Reba,
With the bill being 1,071 pages thick and needing at least 535 copies (probably much more than this), that's well over a half-million pages. At least the office supply companies in Washington will see a little stimulus. :)
Steve
Steve, I was an accounting major in College now I know that was many years ago, but the math is 2009 - 2011 = 2. So immediate relief will come in two years..Oh Yeah..that sounds great.
Kathy,
That's a great question that very few in Washington seem to be concerned about. :)
Steve
Connie,
While they're at it, they should look up "earmark" and "pork." :)
Steve
Kat,
Never forget that the government owns the printing press and the engraving plates. :)
Steve
Richard,
I know, silly me. I think we need a peek at the glossary that Congress does use because there have to be some wacky definitions. :)
Steve
Steve,
Make that at least 2 years - could be more, but I'm sure they will be more soending packages passed by then. :)
Steve
Steve,
They also need someone to define middle class for them. Does the middle class really make 120K a year?

Steve,
Elections have consequences. This is what we get when one party controls both houses and the administration. It doesn't matter what party either.
Rich
Honestly, I do not know what to think, Things have been so out of whack for years, it's difficult to over come such ingrained (or inbred) behavior! I do like your idea of learning what words really mean!
Ann,
That definition keep changes to fit the legislation they're drafting. :)
Steve
Rich,
I don't know if it's arrogance or complacency or what, but you're right. :)
Steve
Russell,
It definitely is out of whack, and I'm not sure how long it will take to get it fixed. :)
Steve
Don't get me started!! I dare ya to find one honest politician...
Hi Steve - Sad but true. I, as most people, had hoped something more would have come out of this bill. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the next chapter brings.
Tony,
OK, I won't get you started, but there are some people in Congress who still believe in free enterprise. We do need to support them when we learn who they are. :)
Steev
Jon,
I had hoped for no bill. No stimulus. No bailouts, No buyouts. We don't need them. :)
Steve
Steve,
Honestly I think they have no clue about middle class income.
Ann Hayden in sunny cold Wildwood, Missouri
Ann,
Stop and think about. How could many of them? Glad you're sunny. :)
Steve
Steve,
Yes, I know what you are saying. They should be paid real middle income wages for serving the country. ;-)
Ann
Ann,
That is a great idea. If you couldn't get rich by holding office, maybe it would attract different people. :)
Steve
Steve - I share your disbelief and disgust over this monstrosity.
Ryan,
There are still a lot of us but not nearly enough to get in front of this freight train. :)
Steve
Steve,
Well, they could be better or maybe worse..
