2009 will bring changes

Obviously, 2009 will bring changes.

There's going to be new opportunities for business and new people to meet and work with.

We will have some issues to deal with as well (personal, business, emotional, financial, health, family). Hopefully we will all be able to handle them.

On the lighter side, today is the last day we can write 2008 in the present tense. This is probably the most immediate change we will notice going into 2009.

So here's my challenge. How long can we go into 2009 before we slip up and write "2008" just from habit?

We've had a year of practice writing 2008 so now we have to retrain ourselves. We have to intentionally write 2009 until it becomes habit.

I know I'm going to mess up - sooner rather than later - how about you?

Hi Steve:

For me, it'll probably happen throughout the month of January.  Either when writing out a check, or completing a listing agreement.  It's bound to happen a few times!

Toula,

Unless you can really focus and be very deliberate, it's bound to happen. :)

Steve, I usually do it every year. Happy New Year and have a great 2009.

Michael,

The question is how long will it take before we inadvertently mess up and write the wrong year. Happy New Year. :)

Steve,

As you read this post, take out your checkbook (if you still write checks) and write 2009 on each check. Happy New Year!

Rich,

That's a great idea. I don't handwrite checks anymore, but if I did, this would help. :)

Better question is when will the featured blog in ANYTHING GOES that's about 2008 goals be taken down and replaced with a 2009 version?

I wonder why people have to wait until 2009 to start changing.

Erica,

Well as they say, anything goes - so I guess keeping a feature up this long is part of it. :)

Tony,

I don't know that they do - it just marks a fresh beginning and a definite benchmark in time. :)

I got a jump start by business planning for 09 in September, and started implementing my plan months ago. Hoping it kicks in and things turn around (in general) soon.

Erica,

With that kind of a jump start things should be in high gear soon. Let me know if I can help you in your planning or execution. :)
