If you had asked me a few days ago about what I needed or wanted for Christmas, the answer would have been easy. There was nothing that I wanted. Nothing that I had to have. Nothing that I just couldn’t live without. There was not one thing I longed for or absolutely had to have or wouldn’t be complete without.
That was until my computer crashed.
I am now in possession of a brand new, faster, larger computer that should serve my needs until it decides one day to stop working – or 3 years, whichever comes first. That’s about the longest I’ve ever had a computer.
Well anyway I have my Christmas present - unexpected though it was. Now I’m set.

Long may it live...I find asking for a female version means they work faster, harder and longer....happy holidays !
Sally & David,
Thank you, but 3 years is probably the limit - or it'll be obsolete then anyway. :)
Steve
Steve.. What kind did you get.. I'm always looking in case mine crashes too. I laughed at your "until it decides to crash.. or 3 years which ever comes first".. isn't that the truth. LOL.
Steve - I may end up getting a cell phone this year in the same manner. :)
I know what you mean. At this stage of life, 'gifts' end up being things we can't do without that suddenly go kaput.....tires, heat/air unit, hot water heater, and of course computers. Enjoy the new computer!

Congratulations on your new computer. A good reminder to all is to be sure your computer is backed up regularly so we don't lose saved data. Having lived through 2 crashes and replacements I can't tell you how important it is to back up your computer.
Good luck with your new computer.
Hi Steve. Were you able to save all your data I hope?
Great timing! Hopefully you didn't lose any important information.
It's amazing, when you get a new computer, you realize how slow your old one was... :)
Glad to know you got a Christmas gift you love. Isn't it amazing how fast a new computer is when you first get it?
Valerie,
It's no specific kind. I've basically had it with those. Now I have what I need, not what I get. :)
Steve
Congratulations, Steve. I feel exactly like you, there is nothing that I want or had to have for Christmas, it is not about the material things (at least for me), but if my computer crashed, I too would think, a new better and faster PC would be it. Enjoy it! :)
Jason,
A cell phone is an essential part of life today. I hope you get the one you like. Merry Christmas. :)
Steve
Russ,
I like it very much. It isn't a particular brand. It was built for me. :)
Steve
Sarah & John,
You're right. Funny how that works. My computer and I are getting adjusted right now. Merry Christmas. :)
Steve
June,
Fortunately I didn't lose any data except the last things I was working on. I use Carbonite, and it does work. However, this was a power issue that took out the power supply and the motherboard at the same time. :)
Steve
Karl,
Thanks. It's pretty hard to do anything these days without one. :)
Steve
Richard,
I lost a little and to reactivate and reformat some programs but basically all is good. Thank you. :)
Steve
Darla,
Is there ever a good time for a computer to quit? At least I'm back up and running now. :)
Steve
Konnie,
I knew how slow the old one was. That was one of the reasons for the new one rather than trying to repair the old one. :)
Steve
Tammy,
The timing was perfect in that respect. I do hope it remains this fast. I do tend to slow them down and wear them out. :)
Steve
Lourdes,
Thank you for those kind wishes. Merry Christmas to you. :)
Steve
Steve - That's how I feel. I really don't need anything! Hopefully, my computer will last me at least another year. It's only a year and a half old...Merry Christmas! :)
Debi,
Have a Merry Christmas with your family and may that computer hold on a while longer. :)
Steve
I so hope you were able to back up and save the info from your now defunct computer.
Even though it's a huge hassle, aren't you just loving having a new computer!!!
Craig,
Yes, I'm loving it, and nothing seems to have been lost that I couldn't recreate. :)
