After weeks of hearing about everyone else's low gasoline prices and seeing ours near the top of the gasbuddy.com averages, we finally broke the $2.00 mark - in the right direction.
Thursday, I was in Lake Wales in the middle of the State and filled up for $1.92. Yesterday, a station near my house was $2.07 in the morning and the magical $1.99 by noon. Now there are a couple of others at $1.99. I think it just might catch on.
The average national price reported yesterday was $1.98. That makes us just about average after being considerably above the average. That feels much better.
Of course we have a long way to go to get to Ann Hayden's $1.49.

Ah, I didn't realize that gas was still so expensive in your area. We're over $2.00 yet, but I had heard there were areas where it was "nearing" $1.50 a gallon, so I assumed FL was cheaper.
Doesn't it feel great not to have to take out a 2nd mortgage to fill your gas tank.
I filled up today for $1.79
I paid $1.77 this afternoon in Brooklyn Park, Anne Arundel Co., Maryland, but near my house it is still $1.85.
Vickie,
Our taxes are very high - especially in Palm Beach County. Most of the other areas in our State are lower. :)
Steve
Ellie,
I can only dream for the day of $1.79. BTW, I'm still using $4.29 gas from all the gas cans I filled up at the start of hurricane season. :)
Steve
$1.86 West of Chicago. One of the benefits of a sour economy but I will take it.
Dean
June,
That's great. Glad for you, sad for us. :)
Steve
Dean,
The last time I was in the Chicago area, prices seemed fairly high. That price is great. :)
Steve
Steve,
We're still above $2.00 at most gas stations in Fort Lauderdale, then again, I worked from home today.
Yea for affordable fill ups! Around here in the Baltimore area a good price is around 1.80. And I love checking out gasbuddy.com, it has been fun watching it go lower and lower the over the past month.
I filled up this morning for $1.74. It took $20.65 to fill up.
I paid 1.69 here in Denver, CO
Karen,
Most of the stations here are around the $2.07 mark, but there are at least 3 that are $1.99. I'm still driving on the $1.92 Lake Wales gas from Thursday. :)
Steve
Maggie,
I like watching gasbuddy, too. The entire lower half of the scale is below $2.00. :)
Steve
Greg,
That's quite a savings. If nothing else, we're seeing a big difference in our budget here. :)
Steve
Steven,
That is a great price, and it's really amazing the variations in price. :)
Steve
Never thought I would see gasoline prices below $2.00 a gallon again. A couple of days ago it was $1.69 in my area.
Man, you are below $2!?! Here in WA, the lowest I've seen is $2.11. I want to get below 2 bucks so I can fill my tank for just $20 again!!

I was almost looking forward to filling my tank this week, just to pay less than $2! What a world!
They have us all happy about gas under $2 per gallon. Yeah! Next time they hike it, it will be $5 and then we will be so happy with $3.
I am delighted that people are still driving less. We need to save in every way possible and driving less will benefit us in the USA in many ways.
It's about time! Gas prices put a stranglehold on everything from food prices, to vacations, to consumer confidence. Now with gas prices falling hopefully the rest will fall into place.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Steve!
All the best,
Craig
Steve,
I remember when the gas went over $2 a gallon. Someone then said that we'd hit $4 a gallon and be thankful when it was back at $2. I still think someone, somewhere is getting rich on this. And it makes me angry!!
Nicole,
It'll get there. Just be patient. Didn't think ours ever would but now more and more stations are $1.96-1.99. :)
Steve
Laurie,
I know. I saw gas for $1,90 at Sam's today and was tempted to top off the tank - but I'm holding out for even lower prices. :)
Steve
Reva,
I think cheaper and more varieties of fuel through competition and development is what we really need - then we can drive as much as we want. :)
Steve
Craig,
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. We have a ways to go to get grocery prices back in line but I'm sure that will happen. :)
Steve
April,
It really does make you wonder who might be manipulating this and what their motives are. :)
Steve
Michael,
Now, you're just bragging. That's a great price. :)
