Yesterday, I shared some really incredible antics that I have noticed from other drivers. Apparently many of you have seen these and worse also. Thanks for all the great comments.
Here's Part II.
You're driving along and you come to a traffic light. The are several cars in front of you so you decide to leave a space at the exit from the parking lot for anyone who might need to pull out into your lane rather than having to wait for a couple of light changes before they get the chance. So, the pull out all right in the space you generously left without a wave or nod - as if they were entitled to the space - or clueless that anyone would be nice enough to plan ahead for them.
You're driving along and you notice that your lane is blocked ahead with an accident or road work, so being the attentive driver that you are, you change into another lane. But that's not good enough for many people who are more important that you are - or self-absorbed. They drive down the shoulder at full speed while everyone else is crawling along - or another good one is that they stay in the lane that is closed until they get to the front of the line. Someone always lets them cut in line. They know that. They count on it. They exploit our good nature.
They obviously don't care, but it's actually possible to lose ground and go backwards with people moving from behind you to the front of the line and then being let in. This is just not right.
I'll close this rant. I'll have one move later.

I notice this sort of thing every day on my way home. People will be backed up for a mile or so in the emergence lane and others will speed ahead and attempt to cut in line.
Steve the old stand by quote is the only thing that is certain is "death and taxes".. add bumper to bumper traffic..at what people refer to as rush hour (rush hour is when you don't move).. Steve
JL,
I think they the must feel that they don't have time to wait like everyone else. :)
Steve
Steve,
Or could it be the rush of anger or frustation that overtakes you? :)
Steve
Yes, I'm sure that's the case. However, as thy cut my off as I'm trying to exit, I have nearly proved the existence of spontaneous human combustion more than once.
JL,
Sometimes I'll drive so that I'm stradling the white line on the edge of the pavement as a deterent for people to drive up the emergency lane. But I've almost been run into, and I've seen people drive down into the grass and keep going. :)
Steve
First off, it is so funny to see the response to your recent blogs. Everyone has a story or experience with "these people" :) It reminds me of a funny quote I heard once that goes:
'Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.' -Mac McCleary

I was in Florida last summer and witnessed people driving on the shoulder. I've never seen anyone do that in Kansas or Missouri except cops.
Oh that so made me laugh! Oh couldn't identify with each and every one of those points! :-)
Liz,
Thank you. It's amazing what we have to put up with out there, isn't it? :)
Steve
Nicole,
I guess we all have momentary lapses or close calls - some people ("these people") just seem to make a habit of it. :)
Steve
Justin,
Saw it again just this afternoon - a very common occurrence around here. :)
