Saturdays are neat days.
As a kid I remember Saturdays because we got to stay up a little later on Friday night and then there was a full morning of TV cartoons - real cartoons like Mighty Mouse, Tom and Jerry, and Heckle and Jeckle.
Saturdays are days for yardwork, phone calls, showings, listing appointments, open houses, shopping, running errands (to the places that are open on Saturdays), getting an oil change, and just about everything else that can't be done or didn't get done during the week.
As neat as Saturdays are - sort of an "all-purpose" day - we only get 52 of them a year. This being November 8, there are only 7 more this year - not counting today. Taking out for holidays, and we're down to about 4 more good Saturdays for being productive in 2008. Yikes. Where did it all go?
Whether you're at NAR today - and if you are, welcome to Florida - or at home, have a great Saturday, and make this one count. Saturdays are special.

Steve, As I sit and read your post (and others) I am at my office, waiting on multiple appointments. My Saturday goes by the name of Thursday, it has been that way since I turned 18. Weekend work became a given, but the up side is I get to goof- off when everything is open and recreate while everyone is waiting for the weekend. You have a great Saturday
Steve,
I've worked many a Saturday, and in many ways I work everyday. Still, Saturdays have a special feel. Have a great one whatever you're doing today. :)
Steve
You are right. I woke up to my adorable 2 Grandchildren bringing me some toast for breakfast. This is what life is really all about. Being a Grandparent is beautiful!
Steve - Denise's Saturday sounds wonderful, doesn't it? Mine won't be quite as relaxing... :)
Denise,
That's sounds so great. Obviously you are special to them and they are special to you. Enjoy. :)
Steve
Debi,
Her day does sound great. My Saturday started the same as every other one - taking the trash to the street for pickup. :)
Steve
Steve, ah Saturday morning cartoons! Underdog, Felix the Cat. Brings back some great memories.
Laura,
A quieter, carefree era. Oh well, we've grown up and moved on. :)
Steve
Steve, I used to love Saturdays as a kid, although my favorite cartoon was Underdog - too bad he was on so early that I rarely saw him, but what a treat when I did! As a kid, I always hated Sundays because they were boring - just sports in the afternoons. That's before I acquired my adventurous streak and learned how to make my own fun! Now, if I watch 50 hours of tv in a year, it would be a lot!
New motto for Steve: "I shall NOT take my Saturdays for granted!"
Lisa,
You really do have some neat outdoor adventures (based on what you chronicle and share with us). I do value my Saturdays. I usually get about 2-3 days worth of activities stuffed into a Saturday. :)
Steve
Steve.. Oh My Gosh... I remember those cartoons. Those are the true cartoons, and memorable ones. My favorite was Mighty Mouse.
Real estate being a 7 day a week job.. there is never truly a *Saturday off*, but I do try to make sure I get one every now and then. Hope you enjoyed yours.
Valerie,
Thanks. There was something about those old cartoons that were magic - Underdog, Popeye, Yogi Bear, Mighty Mouse - they're still entertaining today. Real estate is a 7 day a week pursuit, but we certainly can find little breaks. :)
Steve
Steve - Awww. That's nice of you to do...That's my husband's job, too. It's nice not to have to worry about that chore... :)
Debi,
Nice of you to say that. At least I don't have to do it in the snow. :)
Steve
Hi, Steve:
I like the concept--running out of Saturdays. They are still the best day of the week, in my opinion. Thanks for the post!
Cheers,
Robin
Robin,
They definitely are a great day - so versatile yet slow paced. :)
Steve
Steve.. We should make a "Week Day" a Saturday. This way we will have 104 instead of 52 to pack everything into.
Valerie,
Not a bad idea - change it with Tuesday or Wednesday. :)
