Just a friendly reminder to most everyone that we need to turn our clocks back an hour before leaving the office tomorrow or Saturday (whichever is the last work day) or on Sunday or Monday, we're going to be an hour ahead of the curve. There are still a few non-daylight-savings-time-non-conformists, but most of the country will be going back to standard time.. The others of you can just stay on standard time.
You may have read about my idea for double daylight savings time - instead of turning the clocks back an hour on Saturday night/Sunday morning, we turn them ahead another hour - maybe even ywo hours. Hey, as long as we're messing with the time, we might as well get as much daylight on the drive home as possible. Do you really like driving home in the dark - before 6:00? In the morning, some of our eyes are barely open anyway, so what does it matter if it's still dark?
Then in the spring, we can go back to the time it is now. That seems to work for the summer months.
At any rate, enjoy that extra hour of sleep Sunday morning!

Thanks for the post. I appreciate your idea as I am not a morning person.
Steve, I totally agree with you. This whole 'daylight' savings time seems reversed to me. I hate leaving the office after dark, as you say before 6:00 pm. It's nuts. In any case, thanks for the reminder. This was a government innovation, right?
The time change messes me up for days!
Darrell,
If every month or so we adjusted the clocks so that it got dark around 7:00 in the winter and up to 9:00 in the summer, that would be fine. :)
Steve
Marian,
Government - how could you tell? Actually Ben Franklin was the first to suggest it. Don't know when it actually started. :)
Steve
Melody,
Remember that old margarine commerical - "it's not nice to mess with Mother Nature"? But as long as we're doing it, we should get a payoff like more daylight at night. :)
Steve
Steve...
This is perfect because I've been having trouble getting up lately, the switch will do just fine!
Steve, Now if someone would only tell my two dogs that I can stay in bed an extra hour Sunday morning. Somehow I don't think thats going to happen.
Richard W.,
Talk about perfect timing. Enjoy that extra hour - of course you have to give it back next spring. :)
Steve
Richard I.,
That's simple. Buy them their own clocks and reset them to the new time. :)
Steve
Is is really already that time of year again!?!? I am not sure if I have reset some of my clocks from FALL back last year:)
Cherimie,
I'm sure I have watches and clocks that I haven't used in a while that will be right again also. :)
Steve
Except if you live in Arizona, like me! We don't do daylight savings.
Leslie,
I'm aware that Arizona doesn't change. Do you know why they don't? :)
Steve
It's already getting dark at 6:30 in Minnesota. I can't complain, though, it was almost 60 degrees and sunny today! :)
Darla,
It sounds like great weather. It's just going to be a little harder to enjoy it in the evening. :)
Steve
Yeah Steve, thanks for the reminder. It is so easy to forget.
Tanya,
It really is easy to forget - we're just going along enjoying the extra bit of daylight. :)
