No, not that kind of change - this is not a political blog. I'm talking about real change - silver (or what we used to call silver before 1964). Today we call it pocket change. Same difference, and it's nice to see.
I hadn't done a lot of driving this month, so today was the first time I needed to fill-up with gas in the past couple of weeks.
Drum roll, please. Today I saved 51 cents a gallon over the last time I bought gas. I won't tell you how much it was because it's still high compared to many parts of the country - like Karl Peidl's New Jersey.
Now that's real change!

Steve~ It is so wonderful to see the gas prices dropping down.... if only they would stay DOWN!
Steve...
We are down nearly a dollar a gallon from two weeks ago! WOW!
I have seen it as low as $2.62 a gallon recently at Costco. A welcome relief.
Vickie,
We can certainly hope. This definitely should put a halt to the inflation we were seeing in grocery items. :)
Steve
Richard W.,
And here I thought a half-dollar drop was good. Wow, a dollar. Great! :)
Steve
Richard M.,
That is a great price. Keep watching for it to go lower. :)
Steve
Hey Steve, I'm with you. Last weekend we filled up for $2.89 in Charlotte.
Hi Steve
I stopped for gas today and the price was fifteen cents less then I paid last week.
Good luck and success
Lou Ludwig
Lou,
You do a lot of driving so I know that you can feel the difference. Thanks. :)
Steve
Gas prices are falliing I saw $2.38 today in Kansas City.
We are down a dollar from last month in Myrtle Beach. I saw gas for $2.56 today. Of course I didn't need gas but still, exciting!
Yay!
They were excited today on the radio to hear that there were a few stations around here just under $3. OK now you folks are giving me hope. I still don't understand how the pricing can be that drastically different across the country.
This is change we call all agree is GREAT! Hopefully the prices will drop a bit lower and stay that way for a while!! I was excited last week when I filled up and now the prices are even lower!
Costco in Salem is down to $2.84 and a station in Molalla has gas for a record breaking $2.57 a gallon and has drivers coming from all over to take advantage. The gas lines remind me of the 70's.
Justin,
That is low. You may be leading in the national sweepstakes. Stay tuned. :)
Steve
Randy,
One thing is the different blends that states require. The other is the difference in taxes. Beyond that, I'm not sure either. :)
Steve
Terrie,
I know. I saved almost $10 over my last fill-up. :)
Steve
Leslie,
Gas in the $2.50s would draw a crowd around here, too. It would be great. :)
Steve
I just got gas for $2.98 a gallon here in Apex, NC.
While I wasn't jumping up and down at the "savings", it was nice to see it under $3.00 for the first time in a long time.
Craig,
That $3.00 mark is a great one to break as long as it's on the way down. :)
Steve
Steve - I'm happy that gas prices are going down around here, too. Today, the price is down to $2.59! It's still too high but better than it was... :)
Debi,
That's getting pretty good - as you said, better than it was. :)
Steve
Steve... I think the fall in the gas prices will help stimulate the economy.... and give some confidence back to the public. Let's hear it for falling gas prices.. Hip, hip HURRAY!!!
Valerie,
I agree, but OPEC is planning on cutting our celebration short. :)
Steve
Steve.. Yes, I know. Figures doesn't it. Anything that is good.. will be taken away eventually. Any idea of when the blow is to hit?
Valerie,
Stay tuned. We might know more today. The Dow is down over 300 right now (but it was expected to be off more than double that). Now Congress is discussing a second Bailout. Surprise! :)
