Getting into the fall spirit

Well here we are on October 15th - the ides of October, tax day, last Presidential debate day (no political content implied - only a reference). Some areas of the country are enjoying peak fall foliage colors. Others are still in anticipation.

We noticed a cooling down and less humidity this week and may get our first real cold front this weekend.

Plus, the Midwest Rainers started a photo contest yesterday (with no prizes).

So for all of these reasons, and the fact that I just want to share some gorgeous fall color, here are a couple of shots from fall in Illinois from the file.

What beautiful pictures. I do miss the fall colors living here in Florida. That said, I would not trade our weather for anything. Unfortunatly with fall colors comes SNOW. A 4 letter word down south.

Happy Wednesday!! Lori Isaacson

Mike,

You have fall in Orange Park - much more than we do in South Florida. You actually get down into the 20s on occasion. Enjoy the cooler temps. :)

Foliage is a word invented by hotel owners so people would have a reason to visit their rooms.  LOL

Lori,

There is a trade-off. Just think. Our fall is starting now and goes into next April. :)

No better time of year to visit North Georgia mountains. Some years it is spectacular! It is said the drought will make for a good viewing year, guess there is a trade off....

Heath,

That could be, but there is so much to see in the mountains and along the highways - even on your street. :)

Steve - your colors in the photos are great and I do miss fall in the Midwest, there really isn't much of a fall in Las Vegas.

Robert,

Thank you. You do have the mountains not too far away that you can visit, don't you?

Steve, those colors are so brilliant; I do love Fall here in the Midwest.  It is probably about 65 degrees with blue skys and sun; but will dip to 45 degrees tonight.  Hubby and I are taking a drive to Turkey Run this weekend to picnic and slow down.
