Lantana and the zebra longwing

The Florida state butterfly, the zebra longwing, is seen here enjoying some of our flowering lantana. Lantana is a flower that appears occasionally as the "graphic" keyword at the end of posts here on Active Rain. It can be all yellow, yellow and orange, or purple. This happens to be an unusually colorful display, so I wanted to share it with everyone.

Just beautiful Steve! I love lantana too. I have three in my yard. All are yellow. One is in my front yard and I have had it for about 4 years now. I really think each spring it is not coming back but by the end of spring it has it's green leaves popping out. This one plant is so gorgeous. It takes up about 4 or 5 feet circle. Thanks for sharing!!

Teresa,

Thanks. We have all yellow plants in other areas, but this one grouping is so colorful. Hope you are drying out from the rain.

Jeremy,

Thank you. These are pretty flowers - up close or from a distance. Hope the visit from Hanna was OK and that you are drying out.

So weird.  I took pictures of my lantana today too.  I also have the multi color... and this is the prettiest summer in quite a few years for my two.

Great pictures.

Tammy,

I think they are prettier and more numerous than they have been in a while. Maybe its all the rain we've been having.

Steve, Can you please send us some more rain? We had a lot from Faye but haven't had any since.

Teresa,

I would have thought Hanna rained on you. We got a lot from that and are expected to more on Tuesday from Ike.

Debi,

Thanks. That was just one of those lucky times when everything comes together. I decided to take pix of the lantana, and the butterflies showed up. :)
