That's right, historically, July 2, 1776, is the day the Continental Congress declared independence from Great Britain. We celebrate Independence Day on July 4th because that's the day the paper we're familiar with was actually adopted, but the resolution passed on July 2nd.
So, we really have 2 days to celebrate the actions of our founding fathers.

Steve, I think we've been seeing Independence Day posts for the last week or so. We're already celebrating!
If that is the case We should close our office from the 2nd-the 4th, who's in. Oh if it was that easy. Steve
Brian, the celebrating part of the post was the punchline. The fact that most people are unware of the significance of July 2nd was the story. Thanks.
Steve, that thought occurred to me as well, but then what would I do with all of that time off? :)
Great Post Steve! Enjoy the holiday and extra time off!
Greg, thanks. Enjoy your holiday and the freedoms that we are celebrating. Steve
