A punctuation on Father's Day

Sunday evening as we were getting ready to have a Father's Day dinner that my adult sons were preparing, we heard a commotion coming from the cul-de-sac behind our house. As we walked up to the fence, we observed several police cars, fire trucks, and the bomb disposal unit.

Turns out this was the real deal.

Some disgruntled person apparently attached a homemade pipebomb-type device to the exhaust of a car in the driveway of a home in the next block.

After a few hours everything returned to normal and the device was successfully removed and detonated according to police procedures.

Oh, the dinner was great.

Sad we live in a time that kind of thing happens.  Who ever placed it might have killed a kid playing in the circle.  What have we become?  As a kid, I never had to worry about that type of thing.

So, what was the menu?

Tony, thanks for your comments. We have become very impulsive to settling differences. Clearly this person (I don't know if they have any suspects yet or not) did not think this through.

That sounds like a rather unique Father's Day!  I'm glad it turned out well...  Thanks for sharing!  :)

Debi, I guess you could say it was different. In 27 Father's Days, I've not had anything approach that.

Steve...

That's very scary. The schrapnel from those thing is very deady. I'm glad the police took care of it.

Richard, the bomb disposal tank that was parked just beyond my back fence drove that point home. Thanks,

Sad state of affairs..

everyone around has been affected and must live with this now for life..

And who even knows if the pipe bomb wasn't intented for someone else..

The Stress of this ages everyone.. and takes away the children's (and everyone else yet to experience this first hand) innocence.

Not to mentin.. no matter how good the meal was..

all likely didn't Enjoy nor digest it as well..

as a Peaceful Joyful Father's Day... that it should of been!

But another reason.. to Make the Most and Enjoy each and every DAY!!!

blreast, that's for commenting. It does make you wonder why someone would go through all the effort to craft a device that could cause serious harm to someone else.
