There are so many issues we can discuss to illustrate how our government is harming small business and jobs. This story, however, is hard to believe.
Imagine a small business in the US being raided by Homeland Security and Fish & Wildlife because they supposedly broke an Indian rule - not a US law - and being told as well that all of this scrutiny would go away if they simply used Madagascar labor to prepare the raw materials before being sent to the US company! You heard right - our government defending a foreign government against a US business.
The company? Gibson Guitars. Their chief competitor, Fender Guitars, uses the same imported wood in the same way. No problem. Isn't there something in the Constitution about equal protection?
There is a political undertone here that cannot go unnoticed.
How does this relate to real estate or other small businesses? Watch this rather long (8 minutes) but eye-opening video and you'll see the parallels.

Steve,
It is also said of socialism:
"All animals are created equal,
Some are just more equal!"

It is a shame the way the DOJ is handling this situation. I could care less about any laws in other countries!! The DOJ cannot handle the laws we have on the books, here.... let alone Madegascar! I wish they would attend to the "crooks" we have in Congress, like career politicians!!
Don't we have terrorists and an economy to worry about? Just blows me away. Don't we need a president, not some B list actor trying to impersonate Clinton or Reagan? He's got Bozo down!
Steve,
If I didn't see the video, I wouldn't believe it! Wow, this sends chills down my spine. Watched three times and keeps saying, this CAN'T be real, can it?
Bill,
So very true. :)
Steve
Dan,
Holden is a joke. He has turned the DOJ into a joke. There is no excuse for his deplorable behavior. :)
Steve
Larry,
Have to agree. :)
Steve
Don,
Tragically it is real. :)
Steve
Wow, our government is getting out of control, next we will be banning books again. Where does it stop folks?

Todd,
We must really implore Congress to rein in what they can. Then we have to change the occupant of the White House. :)
Steve
Steve, this is over-the-top-government-gone-too-far! I cannot believe that the time, money and government resources were utilized in such an asinine way … and that the small business owner is now spending time and money defending such nonsense!
Congratulations - This post is now featured in Silent Majority Group of Active Rain!
Kathleen,
And the fact that it can happen to one means that it can happen to others - except Fender. :)
Steve
Nick,
Thank you. :)
Steve
This is utterly ridiculous. Why are we spending tax dollars and tying up manpower over this? Gibson is employing people and adding to our economy. Our government is becoming more like black boot thugs every day.
Bonnie,
It is outrageous, and I hope people are reaching a point when they've had enough. :)
Steve
This isn't hard to understand. Orwell said it best. "Two legs good, four legs bad." Obviously Gibson is walking on four legs.
Jay,
Obviously. :)
