There are many issues facing our country today. The debt debate is on the front burner, but the illegal immigration issue has been simmering for a long time.
It's called illegal for a reason - notwithstanding the softer term of "undocumented." We have a formal immigration policy that allows people to legally emigrate from their countries of origin and come to the US. We have formal procedures for naturalization as well.
We have heard the argument for years also that illegal immigrants are taking jobs that Americans wouldn't take. Want to bet? With unemployment in double digits many places in this country, a paying job is a job.
Farmers are now proclaiming that they can't stay in business without illegal immigrants to pick their produce. Two responses for that. Use migrants with work visa or downsize or mechanize your business to where you can stay in business. No one is owed the "right" to stay in business - only to be able to start one. If the only way to stay in business is to violate thae law, then that business needs to go away until it can re-emerge as a legal entity.
Congress has passed laws prohibiting the hiring of illegals, but it often goes unenforced. Congress needs to take a far-ranging approach to this - and then see that the Attorney General enforces it uniformly.
This leads to additional issues of providing services for those in this country illegally.
If jobs are unavailable to anyone who is undocumented - people who can't prove their right to be in this country - then we as a country will be helping to seal the borders and stem the tide of illegal immigration because there will be legal enterprise for them here.

Illegal immigration has a negative impact on the national debt.
Good luck and success.

From what I have heard hiring a documented worker, i.e. an American citizen to pick lettuce (which is the example most used since they have no found a way to mechanize it) at minimum wage would add $0.05 to each head of lettuce! Wow, that would be unbearable! /end sarcasm
Most of the arguments about illegal immigration is complete junk. Besides, isn't cheap labor something the libs and democrats complain about? What better way to increase wages than to get rid of the ones who are willing to work for cash under the table?!!?!?!?
Proves my point that the dems/libs/media (but I repeat myself) don't care about the illegals other than as a voting/protest block.
Lou,
Of course it does. Thanks. :)
Steve
Than,
Just wait until all 14 million are naturalized via amnesty - what a voting block. :)

Steve, legalizing the illegials was one of Obama's top priorities but that has been stopped dead on its tracks. I don't see it happening anytime soon. Obama is only concerned about keep his job and appearing to be someone a moderate.
Mike,
However, he has directed Holden to back off on enforcement. :)
Steve
The untold secret is that the more illegals that come, the more power they have and that works for the long term goal of unifying the US and Mexico like the Euro zone.
Dale,
They definitely have power in numbers. :)
