Good News For Drivers In 18 States

Walmart has announced that effectively immediately at participating gas stations in 18 states, the price of gas will be rolled back 10 cents a gallon for 90 days. Unfortunately Florida isn't one of those states. Maybe they will decide to expand their program.

For now, here are the states where the discount will be offered:

  • Arkansas
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Michigan
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • New Mexico
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Virginia

That has got to help! Thanks Walmart.

Minnesota, in its infinite wisdom and its never ending efforts to protect its citizens, has a statute that requires a specific amount of markup in gas prices.  They fine any station that has too low a price.  Yes, it is true.  Some stuff is just too stupid to make up.

I have never seen a Walmart gas station in Virginia.  Costco yes, but their prices are the same as my gas station.

Maryland is not on the list.  Maybe that is not too bad since I do not recall seeing gas stations at Walmart stores in the area.

 Blooming for you!

Mike,

I'm glad you shared this, and I agree - too stupid to make up. :)

A roll back of 10% will help a lot of families.

Good luck and success.

I would WASTE gas going to our COSTO to get their gas.....I personally this this is some smoke/mirrors since prices are coming down for summer driving.

Lou,

When we get prices back under $2, we will be making progress. :)

In WA, our governor signed a secret agreement with Indian Tribes (read - Casinos) where they will get a rebate of 22 cents on every gallon of gas sold by tribal owned stations on reservation land (again, read - proximity of casinos).  The tribes promptly "offered to buy" (read - warned the owners if they did not sell they would be driven out of business), and then procured the majority of family owned stations on most reservations where there is a casino.  The "rebate" was supposed to be spent on roads through reservation land, but since the State/County already built & maintains those roads, no one really knows where the money will go.  Needless to say, the governor recently announced she will not seek re-election, but the deed cannot be undone.

Unfortunately, the drive to fill up the gas cans for us is a wee bit to far for us. One would think that gas prices would be a little less up here but we are currently at $3.95 a gallon. Prices are going up so fast that I sound like my parents 'when I was (fill in the age here) you could buy a whole car for what you pay to fill that gas tank.'

Really, I should not have these comparisons yet! At least they trained me well, I still have my first vehicle-1953 Chevy truck but it was a classic when I bought it though!
