At least the high gas prices are good for one thing.
The gas stations that always are several cents a gallon higher than the average still are. In fact, some are dangerously close to the $4.00 mark and have passed it for their premium grades.
The thing that's nice about this price runup - if you can derive any satitisfaction at all - is that there's hardly any difference in the market. I drove by some 30 stations today and didn't see a difference of more than 4 cents. Most were exactly the same.
The point is that we don't have to worry about trying to get the lowest price or driving all over town in search of it. Today, one station is as good as another for price.
Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the serious competition to return and the price below $2.00 again. Until that time, I have no choice but to buy gas at the prevailing rate.

Don't hold your breath waiting for that $2/gallon gas! I don't think we'll ever see that again.
Chicago radio stations now broadcast low price gas stations. You can drive 20 miles to save $.03 per gallon
Oh the days of $2 gas. I don't think that will be back anytime soon. It's nice to think about.
But still I don't see the buses full. I do see the same number of cars on the road...
That's pushing it looking for a silver lining.....for sure!!!! Like the optimism though!
Steve
It's amazing that all the gas stations are within a couple of cents a gal for the cost of the gas. Could it be price fixing? No they wouldn't do that or would they?
Good luck and success.

Tim,
Thought that in 2008 also, but we got down into the ones. Under current policy, I agree. :)
Steve
David,
At these prices, any savings is erased unless you are going to be near that station anyway. :)
Steve
Jason,
Until we get some national leadership, I agree. :)
Steve
Paul,
Buses are a big scam on most of America - they siphon off tax dollars because hardly anyone wants or uses them. :)
Steve
Larry,
It was just a thought I had as I was driving by station after station all priced the same. :)

Since I live in the country * 10 min from stores and gas * I multi-task IN TOWN before coming home....my gas tank never gets below HALF in case I need to go to a property quickly from my home....
Premium gas is fast approaching the magic $4.00 per gallon mark in Southwest Florida. Try to drive less with little success! Got used to the prices although don't like them. Enjoy the day!
Here we go with the 4 dollar price again. That will most like look like a low number by the end of the summer.
Are you still happy you voted for Obama America - you got what you wanted - now what?
Lou,
The same thought crossed my mind. :)
Steve
Wallace,
That's a good strategy. I never go more a couple of days without topping off. Used to ride around on empty quite a bit. :)
Steve
Wayne,
Many stations here are proudly sporting the $4.00 price. We just have to pay it. :)
Steve
Kevin,
I'm actually surprised that we haven't gotten there faster. :)
Steve
Nick,
Give him a second term. :)
