The Senate Is Real Slow To Learn

Proving that they learned nothing from the November 2nd elections and they are out-of-step with current political opinion in this country, the Senate voted today 51-47 on a straight party-line vote to reject the attempt to repeal Obamacare. Nevermind Judge Vinson's ruling on Monday declaring the act unconstitutional on behalf of 26 states. Nevermind the House's vote last week to repeal the bill. Nevermind that 58% of Americans surveyed want the bill repealed.

Just go ahead Senate an ignore all of the signs.

We will remember this in 2012.

Steve not sure how out of Step the Senate is read the latest poll.  I think the are right in line with the country!

Steve: It's scary to think that it might actually become law. If folks aren't against the idea, they'll likely be against the practice and the application, escpecially when it hits their wallet.

Thank God I'm 48 and I'll probably have passed already by the time the Constitution is completely irradiated from memory.

I guess they are hoping Americans have a short memory.  I also wonder if we will this time.  I am hoping it's different this time.

We often listen to politicians say it's time to apply common sense to the issue. Once elected, they go to Washington where common sense becomes nonsense. We all know the definition of insanity and it seems applicable to politics. When all you do is talk and fail to listen, you cannot learn anything!

Alas, we fall subject yet again to the double talk.  It's all about "The Party" and what we need to remember is that we are "The People" -- feel more like lambs to the slaughter . . .

Hey Steve , If elections are not working.Maybe the power of the people should be envoked outside the White house with signs and chants.."Hey.Hey you got to go".

There have been 16 cases brought to court concerning the Health Care Reform Bill: 12 of the suits have been dismissed out of hand, 2 courts have sided with the administration and 2 have ruled against the administration.  Hardly a juggernaut of judicial opinion on the side of the folks who want repeal.

The mandate will, sooner or later, be decided by the SCOTUS...hopefully it will be the former.

If we are to look at this objectively, then this is all for show, and it is going to cost billions to get there.  The SCOTUS is conservative and will vote to halt the law.  Of course that could change if a set of new justices get there.  Finally, the administration itself has given fodder to the arguement because of all the waivers it has given to big business.  If it is law is that good, no waiver would be given.

Steve, I appreciate a politician who votes the way his voters tell him not the way the party bosses tell him or her.

Steve.. November of 2012 will not come around fast enough.  But I wonder if we vote in new senators, will it change?  I'm so sick of them doing what they will regardless of how *WE* the Americans truly feel.

Obamacare will eventually get repealed, but in the meantime the nation will be a scambled mess.  My accountant has already told me the IRS put everyone on hold until Feb 14th.  So who knows what we are going to see in taxes because of this?

Michael,

The Senate still wants to spend money, bend the Constitution, and keep health care. :)

Matt,

It IS unconstitutional. Now if the Supreme Court will call it that way. :)

John,

Actually they don't care what we think as long as we elect them. Repoeal the 17th Amendment. :)

Common sense gets sold to the highest bidder, then that's the end of logical thought. :)

If we are to save this country, "we the people" must be ready to challenge them at every misstep. :)

Karl,

If the Court allows a blatantly unconstitutional law to remain because they feel it is necessary, they will be no better than Congress. They need to uphold Vinson''s ruling. He got it right. :)

Dale,

I hope we can trust SCOTUS to get it right and that there are no retirements before they get the case. I agree with you on the exemptions - whicjh is cause for additional legal action. :)

You're right. This is a mess and it needs to be repealed and invalidated as soon as possible. :)
