Congratulations Eastern Washington

Friday night, the national champion was crowned in college football - not the BCS version but the one where they actually compete for the title. Dubbed the "Football Championship Subdivison" (Division I-AA) to distinguish them from the bigger schools in the Division IA "Bowl Championship Series," the teams here settle the question of which one is best on the field rather than on the computer. True the BCS champion is the winner of the big game, but only 2 teams ever get to compete for that prize.

Anyway, Eastern Washington University and the University of Delaware battled it out on Friday night in Frisco, Texas. Delaware took a 12-0 lead to the locker room at halftime, but Eastern Washington really came out ready to play in the second half and won the game 20-19.

Had Delaware not had an extra point blocked earlier in the game, it could have gone to overtime.

The point is that Eastern Washington didn't give up and that both teams were able competitors for each other - fighting to a virtual tie. In the end, Easterm Washington got to take home the trophy in their first appearance in the tournament.
