Congress was never intended to be fulltime, lifetime employment. It was created for people to serve a term or two and go back to the traditional livelihood.
Harry Truman said "If a man can accept a situation in a place of power with the thought that it's only temporary, he comes out all right. But when he thinks he is the cause of the power, that can be his ruinatiion."
Going into 2011, we need to remind Congress that they do not have lifetime appointments, that the Tea Party is a force (or at least a spirit) to be reckoned with, and that each House member is on a two-year probation.
Most of what passed for Congressional behavior during the 111th Congress was unconstitutional, arrogant, and not done in a spirit of genuine public service.
Congress has very specific, limited powers and should uphold the Constitution in drafting laws and holding the President and the Courts in check.

AMEN Steve! Let's hope that the New Year brings 'real' change to Washington! Best wishes for a prosperous New Year.
Steve, this is a great reminder to our government and We the People should continue to remind them!
Happy 2011!
You are so right about this, Steve! This is true not only in Congress but on all seats in the government offices. May your blog help the People cause awareness to these officials!
In Florida we have Term Limits. Too bad we cannot say the same for Washington, D.C.
The 111th should have opened everyone's eyes to the corruption in Washington.
Three little words....Term Limits Now!!
Debbie,
Thank you. Best wishes to you as well! :)
Steve
DOn,

Steve
James,
