The TV weather forecasters - who are wrong much more consistently than they ever are right - predicted this would be a mild winter because of the El Nino effect. To me, that means a few nights in the 40s and that's about it. We've had several mild winters in the past.
However, I predicted that this would be a very cold winter. On what basis? Acorns. I have never seen such a crop of acorns. Many times normal and they are still falling - have been since September.
This morning is was 45. Tomorrow morning it's supposed to be around 32. Another cold front is coming on Wednesday. We're not supposed to see 70 again until possibly Friday.
This is only the first of Decemeber and it's already freezing. I think the weathermen might want to reconsider their predictions. Looks like nature's signs are a better indicator.

That's a great photo and good logical thinking. If you need to come thaw out, come on over to Scottsdale, we're still in the 70's and 80's, LOL. It's just so hard to admit we're wimps, eh Steve? Anything below 60 and we're COLD, LOL.
Juli,
But didn't you say you had frost the other night? What is going on? :)
Steve
Never gave much thought to acorns. But noe that you mention it, this morning as I was walking the dog I noticed that the neighbors car was being pelted by falling acorns. This has not happened to the extent it is this year in the past. Good call! I'll pay more attenttion to the weather.
Wayne,
We have been living in a constant acorn bombing zone for many weeks. Sweep them up and more return. I may even have tiny dents in my cars. :)
Steve
Steve,
Back when I worked in broadcasting, we used to read the weather forecast and it was wrong half the time. The audience blamed the station but of course it was the work of the weather prognosticators.
Steve,
What do we think the frontier people did before there was TV - they watched the skies, their surroundings, and the animals. :)
Steve
We are soooo past due for a big snow.......I hope you're right! (if we have another blizzard like 1993 I may be regretting that wish)
Ann,
You are looking forward to a big snow? It could happen. :)
Steve
I would say that it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Man, and you're in Florida. We haven't had that yet (hallelujah!) LOL!
Joni,
We just missed the record last night but are sure to set a new one tonight. Then more cold weather next week. :)
Steve
Don't people head your way to get away from the cold? What is up with 32 degrees in the morning? Is that what they are calling global warming?

Todd,
If they did this week they will be disappointed. We have more cold weather to come. :)
