The American people have been dealt a serious setback this week in the War on Terror. Without lifting a finger against us, the terrorists have won two impressive battles.
First, with Janet Napolitan and John Pistole as enablers and the TSA as the enforcers, we have been subjected to unnecessary, unprudent, ineffective, and unconstitutional virtual strip searches and pat-downs more comprehensive than used in a normal police arrest. The terrorists have to be getting a really good chuckle out of this at our expense.
The microwave-style radiation chambers have been mass produced for every airport at an enormous cost - money we didn't have and certainly didn't need to borrow to spend. An economic win for the manufacturer - in fact they accompanied the President to India to expand the reaches of their technology - but a setback for the traveling public. It is a known fact that if someone who knows what they are doing really wants to conceal something that it can be done. Look at the toner cartridge bomb that could not be detected. All of this is for appearance only. Airlines could eventually be the big losers here as air travel ratchets back.
Then, Eric Holder's decision to try Gitmo detainees in new York City rather than with a military tribunal has weakened the prosecution of 9/11 suspects and terrorists that we have captured. In a case so powerful that there was no way he could lose, he fell about as flat as a person could. Facing 285 counts, including 224 murder charges, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani was only found guilty of a conspiracy charge. This was considered the government's strongest, most winnable case.
Well, where do we go from here? With the administration playing right into their hands, the terrorists picked up two easy wins this week.

We were exposed to the new security on a recent trip. It was certainly an experience, but the thng that I take exception to is that the pat downs are so invasive now!
Vickie,
And some of the TSA people likely enjoy it way too much. :)
Steve
Steve....of the two listed, the civilian trial verdict is the greater terrorist-win.
The TSA security tactic is another facet of 'what do we do?' attitude within this administration. Sad.
Barb & Sal
Barb and Sal,
Agreed, but the TSA is telling terrorists that if they aren't detecteable in this way that they're OK. :)
Steve
I know I have been hearing abou the TSA stuff all over the radio waves. The scanners and strip search are really over board. Why don't they just let us buy airplane explosion insurance and be done with it.
Michael,
Not a bad idea. The reality is that no terrorist could commandeer a plane anymore because the passengers wouldn't sit for it. :)
Steve
The entire terrorism situation is such a negative turn of events - I miss the innocence of youth!
Steve; The Ghailani trial was certainly the best in terms of its lack of evidentury issues. I heard they had a very troublesome juror they missed during selection. KSM will never be tried until after Obama is out of office, i hope, because they will foul it up (on pupose).
As for the flying security situation, we won't fly while these measures are in place, because we won't be violated like this and the screening will not stop a determined terrorist! How many laws against fraud are on the books? The crooks just figure a new way to get to the money and stay in front of the law! They too know that profiling is BAD:(
Barbara-Jo,
Ah, but we can't go back - only forward. :)
Steve
Steve,
These cases have no place in civilian courts. We are at war. As for the TSA - totally agree. :)
Steve
Steve
Janet and Eric need to find a new day job. The question is do we feel safer with them in office?
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Lou,
Agreed. They are in the wrong jobs. :)
Steve
When the people elect an agenda driven dolt based on a 5 word slogan and a logo, we can't expect results... just more meaningless drivel. We got what the majority asked for...
We need to adopt the Israeli model. I have flown in and out of israel multiple times and they do seem to have it down. But then they use well trained and highly intelligent people as there screeners.
Lane,
Yes we did. but we don't have to like it or condone it. :)
Steve
Mike,
Don't recall any threats on airlines out of there. :)
Steve
Congratulations this post is now featured in the Silent Majority Group of Active Rain.
The Biden's said we should just put up with it - stupid Americans
Steve, do you know what the other countries do for security? I've heard that Israel has the tightest security, but have to admit I don't know what they do.
Okay, on my to do list. Research the most securely ranked countries and see what they're doing.....
Juli,
I believe Israel uses a type of profiling among other techniques they've developed. They know what to look for - unlike TSA. :)
Steve
Other than the recent elections most things are going just like the President and the terrorists want.

PROFILING! that is the only way to effectively screen for terrorism in the airports. but will we do it? NO, because it isn't politically correct. but patting down a 3 year old at random is good security?!?! for God's sake, how do they (the TSA workers) think this is prudent screening? they make me sick. i'll bet there is more than one TSA worker who enjoys these body scanning photos and pat downs. just because they work for the government, they get away with invading a person's privacy and personal space. i have to wonder how many new applicants there are since the body scanners arrived on the scene? ugh!
Nick,
Thanks for the feature. :)
Steve
Nick,
Biden can't be as stupid as he acts, can he? :)
Steve
Trey,
It would seem so. :)
Steve
Linda,
I agree, but there is a flip side. I'm sure there are some TSA workers who get a thrill out of doing this, but I've read reports about others who are really crushed by having to do this. They don't like it either. :)
Steve
And this Wikileaks scandal is going to be terrorist win #3. Obama and friends are simply not strong enough to stand up to these guys.
One good benefit of the TSA pat downs though: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/message-from-tsa/1261478
Little by little, Steve. That is always how it happens. Then they claim victory!
Rob,
I agree and good video also. :)
Steve
Jay,
They continue to gain and we do nothing substantive. :)
