The triumvirate of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid had no trouble telling the Republicans in Congress to either get on board or get out of the way. Now that they have lost the House in a huge way and are essentially equal in the Senate, they still want to get their agenda passed so they are telling Republicans - and America - that they are interested in using good ideas from both parties.
Translation - if Republicans will bend to Democratic, liberal ideals, they will get it passed for them.
Now that they aren't the bully, they have changed their tactics to ostensibly being interested in Republican ideas - with their intended net result being essentially the same.
Their programs didn't work the past 2 years. No reason to assume they will now. Let's try the change we voted for this time.

SOMETIMES I JUST WANT TO SCREAM!!!
If I hear the word compromise one more time from the mouth of a Hill Democrat, I will scream.
They have bullied their way into a "shellacking". HOWEVER, that shellacking didn't come from the Republicans, it came from US.
If they had any pride, they'd go back to their lush offices and shut their mouths. Problem is, they have become so accustomed to getting their way through lies, trickery and deceit, they figure it will always work.
Sadly, it probably will. There are far too many "negotiators on the Republican side of the isle and the Democrats will push, push, push until they get their foot in the door and then take over the negotiation. If McCain, Graham and some others try to take a leadership role, we're finished.
The Republican leadership is far too prone to "give and take" and "negotiate" to get SOMETHING. I'm still not sure the Republican leadership has the guts to tell them what Obama told the Republicans in their ONE MEETING.
WE WON!!
Lenn,
Beautiful! Agree 1000%. Thank you. :)
Ateve
No compromising this time - no lies, deceit or obstruction from the liberals
If the Republicans compromise, in two years they will be out and we will Obama and the dems again!
Nick,
Let's pray that this is true. :)
Steve
Gary,
This really burns me. Dems have been in there forever - except 1994-2006 - and all people seem to remember are those 12 years. If we boot Republicans out after 2 years, we're playing right into the Dems hands and will have Dems in control for the rest of time (which may not be all that long). :)
Steve
We will see this bite us in the butt in 2 years, ex-president Clinton said it himself that we will end up giving Obama a second chance term since the Dem's will blame everything on the Republicans for stalling his agenda. I hold out no hope for the economy, housing and unemployment over the next couple of years changing much as there will be no compromise across lines but a lot of finger pointing.
Joe,
Americans may be slow to catch on, but if the Republicans deliver and Obama just sits on/vetoes everything, he becomes the expendable one. :)
Steve
It will be interesting to see how it plays out and we will get a feel for it before long.
Steve
It's going to be an interesting session, and the voters are not looking for compromise they are looking for progress in the correct direction.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
It's an uphill struggle for Republicans, considering the spin that the mainstream propaganda media will report. They need to get their message out, or they'll take the blame for Obama's failures.
Steve,
I think we will get the flavor of this quite soon. :)
Steve
Lou,
I agree. Let Obama be the obstructionist. :)
Steve
Jon,
Quite correct. :)
Steve
I'm waiting for someone in House Leadership to look at Nancy Pelosi and say... "Elections have consequences, and we won". It was ok when Obama said it to the GOP...
Lane,
They have more class than that. :)
