The chickens are coming home to roost at AARP - a group for seniors in name only and a very powerful lobbying organization for its own insurance plans.
AARP was a strong proponent of Obamacare but now has advised its own employees that their health care insurance premiums are going to increase from between 8-13% next year - because of the law they supported and helped pass.
They said that they are changing co-pays and other provisions in their employee plans to avoid the full 40% increase that kicks in in 2018.
Wonder what the impact will be to their subscribers?
Wow, if they had actually been looking out for their members and looking for ways to keep premiums and expenses lower instead of just being a liberal lobbying group, they may actually have done some good and helped to keep this monstrosity from becoming law.

That's a pretty big if Steve
You think they would have done their homework and read the bill instead of just listening to the propaganda. But oh wait! We need to pass the bill to find out what's in it! I forgot about that cart before the horse strategy...
Their own members nothing! They're supposed to be advocates for all of their subscribers. Hopefully members will start defunding them by cancelling their membership.
Hugh,
And the reason I am not a member. :)
Steve
Michael,
So true. :)
Steve
Jon,
Since when was that part of their mission? Like your membership plan. :)
Steve
Steve....so I guess any decision to re-subscribe is OUT. They are a laugh a minute and a joke that keeps on giving. Especially like their ads--all we can do is shake our heads & hope that those are actors who were paid in full.
By the way, I don't think that AARP wants us eating Desserts--do They?
Barb & Sal
Barb and Sal,
No desserts for us, but wouldn't mind them eating a little humble pie. :)
Steve
Steve- your post has made my stop and reconsider my membership in AARP. My membership is up next year and will look hard at how, if at all, I've reaped any benefits.
I have been eligible for membership for some time and never joined. Anyone who hasn't seen through this scam by now should really reconsider dumping their membership. I know both liberal and conservative seniors who were unaware of just what AARP is really all about until now...
Kathy,
The magazine was about the only benefit I ever determined, buit it's not worth it just for that. They are looking for numbers, that's all. :)
Steve
Paul,
I joined awhile back to get the magazine since some of my clients were advertising there. Dropped after just a few months. :)
