Tuesday was just a small blip on the radar screen for the President. Clearly he is detached from the events of this week. His speech yesterday did not connect with anything the voters had shouted at the ballot box. He just said he needed to communicate better. That is not his problem. He is so transparent.
Today, he invited Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader of the Senate to drop on by the White House for a "get-to-know-you" with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and himself. They want to tell Mitch how the game is going to be played.
If I'm not mistaken, Pelosi is a lame duck leader, and Reid is leader in name only. Well, it's Obama's show anyway - always has been.
Mitch told him no. Fantastic. Bet he doesn't hear that too often. Told the President that if he'd like to compromise and come on over to the values the Republicans have that he'd be interested.
The election is already paying dividends.

Steve...We voted...Result was the same as anticipated...Usually works this way every 2 years anyway...The Republicans are in but they better do something because they're out in 2 years again if they don't...These tea party people won't get anything done because they're outnumbered and inexperienced...The whole system reeks of those who are in and can't get removed and the ones trying to get in to feed at the public trough...My local paper has announcements today for those seeking local office in the next election already...I'm sick of the whole process...Enjoy the day.
I wonder how many times McConnell was invited before? I hear talks of going bipartisan now, meaning Republicans have to vote their way. lol
Steve - I am so glad he said NO to that offer - it would only be a photio shop to America to prove he tried to be nice to the Republicans -
Republicans should send bill after bill to the White House to get Obama to VETO and show the world Obama is the obstructionist he claims upon the Republicans
Elections do have conscequences and Obama should know that - its about time someone called Obama out
Good for Mitch! Seems that the Dems do not get the message, still!
Obama has said that the american people want his agenda but just want to accelerate it. Wonder if he is going to try something before the next congress is seated?
Gary (above)...There is no MESSAGE TO GET...Until the newly elected Republican Congress gets sworn in and actually does SOMETHING constructive instead of talking about it we're still in the same pickle...Then it has to be passed by the Senate, which is now a possibility...Obama isn't an idiot, he knows he has to compromise if he wants a chance to be re-elected in 2012...Right now, the Republicans don't have a viable candidate to oppose him...If they nominate Palin (God forbid), he'll walk all over her and get another 4 years easily...The American people aren't stupid...They'll elect a leader they believe will lead...Right now we don't have a clear cut Republican 2012 threat...Sorry for the diatribe folks...You all had great comments to Steve's post...I'm just a frustrated American citizen that sees nothing being done by either party...Maybe I should have made this a post instead...Thanks for reading.
Go, Sarah!
Ernie, Obama doesn't get it. He still thinks that he was given a mandate to do whatever he wants.
Ernie,
The key is to get more and more of the dinosaurs out of office - this is progress will occur. :)
Steve
Yolanda,
Right. Obama still thinks he's running the show. :)
Steve
Nick,
I am thrilled at his position and I called his office and let them know that I liked what he did. :)
Steve
Nick,
This could a lot of fun. :)
Steve
Gary,
That's OK. I understand that 22 or so of the Senators up in '12 are Dems. :)
Steve
Mike,
He can try, but I don't think it will work. :)
Steve
Ernie,
The outcome of this election looms large of the lame duck session and impacts it tremendously. It will be inconsequential. :)
Steve
Yolanda,
Thank you. I agree. She has be vilified by so many people. She is articulate, smart, and a great strategist. On her own without all the handlers, she does quite well. :)
Steve
Lane,
That's what you get with a ego like that. :)
