Here in Florida, we had great election results - as far as small businesspeople like me are concerned. First, Marco Rubio dominated his Senate race and won handily. He has so much character to take to the Senate, and is an outspoken proponent of free enterprise.
Second, Allen West survived a vicious campaign of attacks by Ron Klein and will bring honor and his military-bearing to the Congress from District 22.
Third, Dan Webster ousted Alan Grayson in District 8 so we won't have to hear or see his antics anymore.
Fourth, we defeated Amendment 4 which would have required that all comprehensive plan changes be voted on in a general election before approval - adding months and thousands (perhaps millions) of dollars to any redevelopment proposal - and tying up land for sellers.
Fifth, Adam Putnam, a real farmer with an agricultural heritage, won Agriculture Commissioner.
Finally, after waiting all night for some ballots to be reviewed and counted by hand here in Palm Beach Count ("home of the chad"), Rick Scott was just declared our next Governor. He and Jennifer Carroll, as Lt. Governor, will make a great team.
There were many other great outcomes of this election statewide, but these victories stand out.

The peoples voices were heard loud and clear yesterday. This is just the beginning!
It's good to see that some people decided to make some changes. Maryland decided, for the greatest part, to stay with the status quo.
Jon,
And I am glad it has a good foothold here in Florida. Now to oust Bill Nelson in 2012. :)
Steve
Gerard,
There are enough new players to make the status quo less certain. :)
Steve
I'm glad you are happy with the results. Texas came out well too! We have our Realtor/Builder/Developer in the house, Randy Neugebauer; keeping Realtors safe from stupidity!
Marco Rubio is very impressive, I have listened to him speaking and think that he has a bright political future.
Steve * GREAT NIGHT all around * sorry about CA; however, they voted for Moonbeam AGAIN so they get to sleep with him!
Elizabeth,
Thanks. Glad you like the Texas results. So far, so good for Florida - and for business. :)
Steve
Wallace,
California is in serious trouble and getting worse. Now they can't look to the House for a bailout. :)
Steve
Steve.. I worked the polls (not poles)lol yesterday. I must say the general public stood up and made their vote count. The vast majority are SICK of how the government is being run... or NOT run. Their voices were heard yesterday.
On a side note... thank you to all military, if it were for your sacrifices we would not be able to do what we did.
I bet you were happy with the results in Florida...Marco Rubio is a very impressive guy and I look forward to hearing more from me.
Steve
Now the real work will have to be done.
Good luck and success.

Valerie,
Great comments, and thank yopu for your service. :)
Steve
Susan,
Very rewarding outcome in Florida. Thank you. :)
Steve
Lou,
We have a good legislature in place in Florida now as well. :)
Steve
Steve, I've had the opportunity to meet Marco Rubio a couple of times over the last year and also Rick Scott and Jennifer Carroll just before the election. I was impressed by Ms. Carroll, she was not at all what I had expected. I'm happy they all won!
Silvia,
Thanks for sharing that. I think our state did quite well overall. :)
