A Rare August Day

Steve Hoffacker's Photos

Today was a gorgoeus South Florida day - quite atypical for August, but greatly appreciated. It felt more like a late spring day.

Today was forecast to be stormy and started out that way with rain before 10 am. It looked like it was going to be a long rainy day - but that was the end of the rain.

Yesterday, we set a one-day record for August rainfall with 2.25 inches in just a couple of hours. Saturday had been stormy also, with a tornado touching down in Boca Raton - "unofficially" unless you believe the video that was shot.

Back to today. The high was 87 and the humidity was pleasant. There was a cooling breeze all day. Walking back into the air conditioning from the outside was not the tremendous temperature difference that we normally feel.

All last week was in the mid 90s, and it has been a hotter than average summer.

That's why today was so pleasant - rare that it is. We took it and enjoyed it.

Hi Steve...It sounds like just the kind of Florida day I would love to experience. I'm not too much on those hot humid days.

Steve, you're not kidding about today.  I kept expecting another day like we had yesterday but wasn't it beautiful!

John,

This was a Chamber of Commerce day made to order - it's still breezy and pleasant. :)

Steve, I can so relate!  Our weather is very similar to your weather and we have not seen the high 80's since last May.  I saw that Thursday is supposed to have a high of 93 and I thought that looked good!

Marchel,

It was supposed to be higher than it was today so maybe you'll come in a little lower than that. :)

Hi Steve, the humidity came back here today after a break for a few days.  I hated to have to turn the AC back on today but I get crabby if I get too hot lol.
