Obama Sends In Second Team

President Obama, apparently tiring of trying to pretend he is interested in solving the Gulf oil spill and not sure what else he can do - has he really done all that much? - sent in Joe Biden today. Seems like an unusual move for the President to handoff the ball to the VP, but I guess the golf course was calling.

And the days keep ticking by, and the gallons of oil.

Hi Steve. It is more like a BP gush than a spill. I am in Tampa Bay and hope it does not spread here. It will wreak havoc on the wildlife and people like it has farther west. Lately I have seen more seaweed than usual along the shores.

Yes, I'm interested in seeing the Clintons actions going down the road. Fasten your seatbelts folks

Wow, what a decision, Gulf Coast or Golf Course?  I am soooo disappointed on my voting decisions, but was it the best of the two evils?

He has less of a clue than Obama. :)

What was fustrating was all the finger pointing at BP first. Yes it was their fault, yes it is their responsibility. However a Leader takes action to minimize the damages. A Leader does not watch and observe damage, he initiates a series of actions and plans.

Yes the scope of this spill is beyond BPs capacity to control, and beyond any capacity of resources Obama has. However spending $1,000,000s of taxpayer money on each flight on Air Force One to look at the spill and continue to point fingers is worthless.

If Obama would have just stepped up and coordinated resources, accepting foreign assistance, put an action plan in motion, and resolved how to handle BP later before the entire spill got out of hand then he would have performed like a leader.

As usual he pointed fingers, pouted, and demanded change without initiating anything himself. Any minute now Im waiting for him to blame "the previous administration" like he always does.

Steve:  That's one thing I really love about you.  Always looking on the bright side of things, and always trying to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

Perhaps you could make some positive suggestions rather than your snide remarks ?

Actually... I would LOVE for Hillary to jump ship, as you put it, and end up running against Obama in 2012.  I would ask you which one would make the better president, but I already know what you would say.  And that would be that ANYONE would make a better President than Obama.  Am I close ?

This is a poor decision on the part of the President. The American people are looking for leadership, not disengagement. Everyone would be well served to remember that ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

I am thinking BIden is on a mission to tell someone else to not be a smartass. Obama treats the oil spill as a distraction - not a focus!

Mike,

Thanks. Two things. MMS is culpable - more than BP. Second, Obama is not a leader. :)

Karen Anne,

From what I can determine, the local governments in Louisiana want to take positive steps but are thwarted by red tape and bureaucracy. From what I hear and read, if the Jones Act were to be waived, there are ships from other nations that could make quick work of cleaning up the spill. How's that for solutions? :)

Actually president Hussein has done a lot. A lot of blocking all of the potential solutions for cleaning up the Gulf.

Posted by Jon Budish - CDPE (Remax Action Brokers, CDPE - Northern Colorado) almost 2 years ago

I also heard that his team of experts he assembled consists mainly of Washington stuffed shirt policy makers, and few knowledgeable or technically skilled professionals on how to resolve oil drilling failures and spills.

Not being trained in this myself, I could only say it would seem logical to find experts who know how to cap wells, seal them off, re-tap it to divert the oil, and dissolve, sink or remove the current oil that spilled.  If you have a track record of success in doing this, they should be on the team, and that is it.

Hi Karen. During both nominations they chided both women. They did so with more cruelty to Palin. Unfortunately this attitude that it's somehow "cool" to bash a woman's intelligence is still pervasive. I was never okay with that with Hillary or with Palin. However I do hope that Hillary runs again though the  Republican party will probably try again with a female nominee. I hope to see a woman president. That is the kind of change that *I* believe in.

Biden is Obama's "Dan Quayle"......don't shoot the president cuz look who comes NEXT!

Posted by Wallace S. Gibson CPM * LandlordWhisperer (Gibson Management Group, Ltd.) almost 2 years ago

Just as Ms Palin would have been John McCain's "Dan Quayle."  I am sorry, but I would much rather have Joe Biden than Sarah Palin.  Heck, I'd even rather have Dan Quayle than Sarah Palin.

I think next time I am just going to close my eyes, pull down a lever, and vote.  Then I will walk out knowing I did my duty as a US citizen.  Now I won't feel guilty when whomever gets elected screws up, because I won't know if I voted for them or not.  As I said previously, who was the best of both evils?

Posted by Don Spera, Serving York and Adams County, PA (CR Property Group, LLC) almost 2 years ago

Wonder if that was part of the calculation in the summer of '08? :)

Karen Anne,

I really am mystified at the number of women who bad mouth Sarah Palin. She is articulate, intelligent, not afraid to voice her opinion when the handlers aren't in control, and has executive experinece. Yet, women will support Hilliary just because she's a woman. Talk abouit a double standard. :)

Steve

Posted by Steve Hoffacker - Sales Trainer/Coach, Sales Books Author, Photographer (Hoffacker Associates LLC) almost 2 years ago

Don,

Don't be afraid to take a stand. The person I vote for rarely wins at any level of government. Also, it's not a "duty" or a "right" but a "privelege. :)

Steve

Posted by Steve Hoffacker - Sales Trainer/Coach, Sales Books Author, Photographer (Hoffacker Associates LLC) almost 2 years ago

Steve:  To me, it is very simple.  Hillary is qualified, and I trust her.  Sarah Palin is not qualified, I do not trust her, and she, in my opinion, is a menace.  Just the quality of the candidates she has endorsed has shown me she is way, way off the deep end.

Posted by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 2 years ago

Karen Anne,

And there you have it. Both are extremely qualified to lead. I prefer Sarah. :)
