Obama Is Not In Control Of The Oil Spill

Senator George LeMieux of Florida illustrates how the President is incapable of handling the Gulf oil mess.

Maybe Obama really does have another agenda that he hasn't shared. After 64 days, he's not really making any progress in the Gulf.

In fact, his moratorium is set to scuttle his jobs "creation or saving" pledge. But then today, we are told that "safety is more important that jobs." Nice way of covering your tracks.

You'll find this video hard to accept but easy to believe.

Yup, no matter what is going one, those who are in charge catch the slap in the face. Goes with becoming a millionaire for the Pres.

That makes me sick to my stomach, Who will turn things around here?

I think the inaction(s), or unhelpful action(s), are doing exactly what he wants.

I also noticed that his many vacations and breaks are helping the nation, at the same time he trashes the BP guy for taking a day off!  What's that Sol O. said?  Oh yeah, you control the words, you control the population.  Two legs good, four legs bad.

The Obama agenda is the overriding consideration - nothing else. His administration will do more long term dame to USA than the oil!

Bryan,

True, but when you start with no experience and surround yourself with folks with even less, that's what you get. :)

Vick,

We have to elect a Congress on November 2 that will reinstitute the Constitution. :)

Jay,

I have no doubt he is manipulating this to his advantage. He's already stopped the drilling. :)

Never let a good crisis go to waste...  If the crisis isn't big enough, it is hard to leverage it to get the most affect...

Lane,

Nothing like a big crisis. :)

What is lost in all this is the true size of the problem or at least the potential problem.  Not unlike the banking crisis, we now have a government that is powerless to fix what a corporation has created.   And Obama is ignoring the obvious, we are going to have more too big to fail situations like this.

Dale,

Not so fast. There is growing evidence to suggest that MMS caused the problem and that BP only was going along. :)

Dale, the problem could have been minimized at several junctures... but the government actually made it worse.

  • The spill repsonse plans HAD to be based on a government projection model that has now been proven to be VERY wrong.
  • Within hours of the fire and sinking of the drilling platform, foreign countries began offering help... it was refused based on the Jones Act... which the president could have suspended (like Bush did after Katrina).  Failure to deploy scimming vessels within days fo the event has made the tragedy MUCH worse.
  • The government disallowed drilling in shallower waters.... which were MUCH safer to work in.
  • Of course, we could get into the failure to do the legally required inspections that only the government was allowed to do...

There are many more things, but the bottom line is that the President failed to allow the steps to be taken that could have stopped the oil from reaching shore.  He continues to allow government agencies to allow damage by not fast tracking things like dredging and fire extinguisher inspections (that could have been done on the water rather than forcing the barges back to port).

National Security,

Thanks. Just shows what a lack of leadership can do. :)
