What Aren't They Telling Us?

It's a different breaking story each day - to keep us off guard and looking at the news of the day instead of what is going on behind the scenes. To be sure, plenty is going on in the background - we just don't get to see it until it's almost too late to respond.

A few instances. The Times Square bomber. He acted alone. A misguided sole angry at the US over something. Then we learn he has ties to the Middle East. Then we almost let him get away. What's the backstory here? This is another foreign sponsored terrorist attempt. It was anything but an isolated incident, and he is not a "lone wolf" - as they liked to refer to him.

Remember the Ft. Hood shootings? What was the first pronouncement - within seconds of the shooting? They told us that they had ruled out a terrorist act when in fact that's what it was.

The Nashville flood didn't even make the Washington breaking news. Much more important things going on.

We still have this persistent oil leak in the Gulf that Louisiana and commercial fishermen are very concerned about. Not much news out of Washington - almost as if they didn't care. And the public and the press seem satisfied with this posture. Even environmental groups are not storming Washington over this. Compare to the outcry over Katrina.

Now the oil executives are going to appear before Congress for hearings on what went wrong - as if they knew. They certainly don't know how to stop the leak. Maybe Congress can tell them.

Then there is this big overblown reaction to the Arizona illegal immigration act by Eric Holder. He wants to sue the State. Many more States are lining up to pass similar legislation. Why doesn't he do his job of enforcing the laws on the books instead of trying to deflect responsibility for his woeful performance in this area?

And Holder now wants to loosen the Miranda requirements for questioning terrorists. Why do they get prtection from out legal system anyway instead of bewing dispatched to Gitmo? Oh that's right, Holder already made that decision earlier.

Then toss in a little story like $6 billion for a "Cash for Clunkers" style program for home renovations to supposedly save energy.

Need one more item that just keeps taking the spotlight off of the President's agenda? He announces his appointment for the Supreme Court. This gets every cable news (I don't watch network news) channel; talking about nothing else all day. Mission accomplished. Keep the focus off of other issues - especially since there is no way she can't be confirmed and Justice Stevens hasn't formally retired yet. All very much premature but designed to keep us from looking behind the curtain.

Since the vast majority of the media are still Obama's cheerleaders, we can't expect them to look critically at him and his administration.

Steve you get the idea we have a rookie in office?  it's a lot easier to run for office and criticize than to actually hold the office.

You don't go to a foreign land, come back and with in a week try to plant a car bomb in the middle of time square and want us to think you did this on their own. How stupid do they think we are?

William,

Right. Notice how their nose for news has dried up? :)

Todd,

They think we are so smitten with what they can do for us that they don't have to level with us. :)

Steve - this administration has taken a page out of Wilson's play book (or several), coupled it with some of FDR's tactics and perfected it. Remember, it was Rahm that said "Never let a crisis go to waste", and this administration is certainly taking that to heart, playing up what will further their agenda. On the other hand, they are also playing down those things, Ft Hood, Times Square Bomber, Underwear Bomber, etc. that don't fit into their plans. And the mm is drinking all the kool aid and trying to get the rest of us to do the same.

Mike,

That's a very good assessment. Thanks. :)

This administration is using alinsky's tactics.  obama has even quoted the guy  in several speeches...just never gave him credit.  Perhaps he doesn't want many Americans to know he is following in the footsteps of a man who dedicated his writings and works to LUCIFER?!!

The media was all over Bush for the unrest in Iraq, not so with Obama, barely report the number of bombings this past week.  Afghanistan is literally at a stalemate, unless we decide to pull out, not much we can do there either.

Nashville gets a few kind thoughts, Katrina gets billions of aid and no blame except for Bush.  For a so called stupid President, he even knew to get the heck out of the way of a hurricane.

Think how close we have come to actually having bombs go off in our cities?  Only the ineptitude of the terrorists have stopped it from happening.  The press would be all over a Repub. President asking for explanations, we get lies from this one.

New jobs created were the talk of the town last week, no one talked of the spike in unemployment.  Nor was there much talk of billions being requested by fannie and freddie.  Do you think there are more foreclosures out there?  If not, why do they need billions?

The broke bailout the broke in Greece.  Can't the press add that up?

See how fast healthcare went away, even though now the true costs are coming out?  States are literally drowning in debt, much that can be pushed to unfunded mandates by Congress.  Where is the outrage?

Illegal immigration gets a pass, but AZ gets clobbered for trying to stop something that the feds won't do.

Seems to me that we are spinning down the drain faster than they want us to think.
