President Obama says that he is amused by the Tea Parties. Amused? Does he think we are just getting together to save our country because we have time on our hands?
Let's plan on being amused on November 2nd when his progressive agenda suffers a setback.
Then let's really be amused on the evening of November 6, 2012.
A little amusement at our expense now versus real joy down the road at his.

I hope we will be VERY amused!! I'm so amused that I've just sent some cash to the candidates (comedians) that might be available to tickle my fancy this fall. :D
Steve - right up there with can't find arugula in Iowa, people clinging to guns and religion, we don't speak French, we won, and "the campaign is over John", it is just another example of the arrogance and the disconnect from reality this president has.
Karen,
Good. Thanks. :)
Steve
Steve, I always enjoy reading your blogs; you don't hold back!!! Kudos!
What seems perplexing to me is when a politician (any politician) says they're "amused" when concerned citizens, which they supposedly represent, collectively voice their opinions and the politicians in turn belittle them for it.
Perhaps instead of being amused, the president would best serve his constituents by listening to what they have to say, acknowledging their concerns and working towards political consensus among other elected officials. Its bothersome to hear campaign after campaign promise to be a unifying source, when the lines drawn are only greater by the day. It's sad to see how our great nation has become so polarized and the divisions between political interests are so consuming that real solutions to our country's problems are being overshadowed by power and political ambition.
I am not a Tea Party member, for what its worth. However, I admire anyone who stands up for what they believe in. The tea party members I've listened to seem to express genuine concern for their country. Given the economic climate and the emergence of the B,R,I,C countries as a growing collective economic powerhouse, those concerns seem valid. Rather than casting stones, it seems as though elected officials in Washington ought to be figuring ways to reunite the country. If they don't, and with the emergence of this Tea Party movement, it seems as though this country may be heading towards FORCED change. I suppose in the end it may make sense, after all, that's where this country started...
Mike,
Isn't it incredible? Arrogance doesn't even capture it anymore. :)
Steve
He actually said he was AMUSED??? wow......... not a day goes by that I'm not astonished by his arrogance.
Kevin,
Thank you fro your support.
Very well written argument. The key is that the politicans are not acting rationally or logically. That's why they act smug and don't engage us in meaningful dialog.
Tea Party - while there is an official movement - is more a state of mind. I'd say you're there.
Steve
Steve: Good post. Today I was totally aggravated with Stewart Penn when he wrote a discouraging post about the Tea Party and how they are just a gang of disgruntled nuts. According to him we should all be glad about paying taxes.
Steve.. Those who are amused *LAST* are amused *BEST*. Can't wait for November 6th, 2010.
Steve just a quick question from your neighbour north of the border. Do they serve hot tea or iced tea at these tea parties?
Sorry that was bad, but I couldn't resist. The only tea parties we have in Canada are of the liquid variety.
Steve,
I heard the remark and was disappointed hearing it from the President of the entire country. Barak Hussein Obama needs to stop campaigning and start governing.
Rich
Vann Jones lied when he said that Obama wasn't an asshole...
Steve: Just another example of his myopic hubris. Sterotyping the out group is a mistake many people make, before their fall.
Melissa,
Isn't it nice to have a supposed leader who cares so much? :)
Steve
Lyn,
Thank you for your support. Taxes are necessary to support a small central government in its most limited Constitutional form - we are far from returning to that. :)
Steve
Valerie,
Good answer. There are millions of us waiting until November 2. :)
Steve
Jenny,
Not sure how much you are keeping up with this, but the tea party movement is a grass roots effort by ordinary citizens who are outraged at the direction of the government and are organizing their protests to affect a change in leadership and policies. :)
Steve
Rich,
Don't think Barry has it in him to change. :)
Steve
Lane,
There is a lot of lying in that administration. :)
Steve
Matt,
Great response. I especially like the "fall" that's coming. :)
Steve
B. Hussein O. acts more like a Chicago thug than a statesman(hmmm...).
Jon,
That's what no experience gets you us. :)
Steve
This is the most arrogant and out-of-touch "president" we have had since Carter. Gee, I wonder why...
Remember in November.
One on one the horsepower is minute. But collectively the country can roll, correct, get back to what made it great. Free enterprise, less big government straggling and more efficient spending for services. If roughly have the people in the country pay income taxes, maybe we should be hearing more from the little red hens funding the next "tea party".
How do you like the fact that they verbally attack the American people? We are the private citizens I guess free speech would be dead if these people could get their way.
Jay,
Some obviously mistook that for confidence. :)
Steve
Michael,
Count on it! :)
Steve
Andrew,
If government would just take a timeout - maybe for the rest of the year - and let the corrections begin. :)
Steve
John,
Remember the report your neighbor if they are spreading misinformation campaign? :)
Steve
I will never forgive the President for dismissing the American People. He gives more cred to citizens in other countries.
Reminds me a lot of Marie Antoinette saying "Let them eat cake." The guy just doesn't get it. Hopefully November will put an end to his plans.
Dale,
Hard to believe that he's supposed to be our leader - don't even think he believes it. :)
Steve
Rob,
I agree with all three statements. Thanks. :)
