President Obama says that "we are going to see something historic this weekend." I agree.
Of course, he thinks his health care bill will be passed. I think it will be defeated.
The historic thing that is going to happen this weekend is that health care will again be defeated, and this President's ability to lead and ram other legislation through will be neutralized.
That indeed is historic.

Sure seems like the majority of Americans are against it but the will of the people rarely plays.
Steve...it is Historic; it will also be a referendum on the understanding the basis of our Constitution; Statistics or polls seem to state strong negatives on this measure becoming a signed into Law Bill. Randy does have it right when he writes '..the will of the people rarely plays.'
Often lately, when one professes disagreement with DC's proposals, the reason for the disagreement is swept aside and we get into the 'ugly' name-calling. Really thought that I left all that behind when I resigned from Education. Guess I'm wrong.
Thanks for p;osting.

Randy,
If there was good reason for Congress to vote for principles in the face of public support to the contrary, that would be an exercise of republican form of governemnt. This isn't even close. :)
Steve
Barb,
Thank you. The central issue is not health care per se. It's ignoring the Constitution, diminishing freedoms, and messing with our economy. That's why I oppose it. :)
Steve
I truly hope this is defeated but it does not look good. Obama would sell his mother if she was still alive to get this passed.
I would not be surprised to hear that Jimmy Hoffa was lobbying for healthcare reform from this group of thugs!
Bonnie,
I agree. It's interesting to see that Obama now has the all-time lowest dispproval rating of a sitting President - one point more than Bush when he left office. :)
Steve
Gary,
You could be right. :)
