Stay The Course - For Now

Maybe you missed it today, but Dennis Kucinich introduced a measure in the House calling for the immediate withdrawal - within 30 days - of all US forces from Afghanistan.

Fortunately, it was defeated overwhelming. The House did the right thing. It's important to recognize their efforts when they act in the best interests of the country. Only 65 voted to pull-out now.

For now we are able to on fighting and making a difference.

Could have been interesting. If the Congress voyed to end the war - one which they didn't declare - and the Commander-in-Chief chose not to, what would happen?

Here's to our brave men and women who volunteer to defend us and carry on the fight.

Steve: Seems like some good gains have made ther recently. Wouldn't make sense to pull out now. Funny that you don't hear many calling it "Obama's war"

Matt,

There is much work still to be done. :)

Liberals and the radical left still have an agenda to declare defeat - and pullout in shame - it doesn't matter to them as long as they keep in power!

It is sad that our troops are caught in the middle of all this.  There probably is no real gain to be had by sendng them and risking their lives in those countries, but it is dangerous to just pull them out without a resolution.  A lot of tax payer dollars going there, and it would be nice if those dollars were spent more on defending our own borders.

We have seen progress there.  As much as we may not like the idea of war, leaving would put the Afghan people in much more peril.

Nicholas,

Somehow we are supposed to win in the eyes of the world if we withdraw. Then who looks out for the world? :)

Michael,

There is questionable gain in fighting a maintenance war. Be quick, bold, and decisive. Win and show the world that we mean business. That's an approach I can live with. :)

Bonnie,

It would put us in severe and grave danger by not engaging the Taliban in its backyard. :)
