Remember $4.00 a gallon gas? Remember that a lot of people wanted to drill for oil here in the US or off-shore? Remember then gas dropped to under $2,00? Didn't seem so urgent or important? Now gas is climbing back to $3,00 and beyond.
Whatever happened to "drill baby drill"? To "drill here, drill now"? We could be well on our way to increased domestic production had we done something then.
Remeber Obama's threat promise that energy prices will need to "skyrocket" under his plan.
Can we just drill?

Steve, With all the resources we have available it is so frustrating that we don't use them!!!!!!!!
Steve
i guess it's easier to export our money and import oil, them to product our energy and keep our money in our country.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Slowly but surely they are on the move upwards indeed. I am surprised that we have not seen outrage again. It will come.
Steve- I just saw a add on the tube saying the same thing, the health care got everyone on edge still
but Steve, but Steve * he's proposed 2 new nuclear power plants which probably won't be operational for 20 years!!!
Well, at least he kept on promise.
The reason we don't drill is that the oil companies have more power than their oponents. They would drill if they wanted to. Right now the fight is about the next source of power as oil wanes. It is like health care, the insurance companies win regardless.
Marchel,
It is more than frustrating. It is stupid and short-sighted. :)
Steve
Lou,
I think that's a good summation. :)
Steve
Tim and Pam,
When gas gets over $4.00 again - maybe by summer - we will hear this again, and it will fade again. :)
Steve
Larry,
Smoke and mirrors. :)
Steve
Wallace,
Proposed is the operative word. :)
Steve
George and Arlene,
Thanks for commenting. :)
Steve
Dale,
The oil companies win by drilling. There are regulations and laws against exploration and off-shore drilling. :)
Steve
Nothing has changed. Everybody talks about energy independence, but seems like no politician has the heart to try it. After 2010 maybe the Republicans will actually do something useful and start drilling or going after other sources of energy. But somehow I doubt it. The Republicans are just a bunch of weenies. Lots of talk but no action.
If we were drilling for our own oil, how much extra tax income would our government take in? How many more workers would have jobs? Why do libs think it's evil to use our own oil resources, while we still use the same amount of oil, but it's imported from countries who don't like us?
Rob,
Let's just say that I have not been impressed so far. :)
Steve
Jon,
Very true. :)
Steve
Steve, we should drill here on our own soil, and give tax incentives for entreprenuers that do. The environmental risk to modern day drilling is not what it was 25 years ago. With the modern technology, there is very little environmental impact. I say drill!
Michael,
Drill on. Do it now! Thanks. :)
