Edmund G. Ross of Kansas was the deciding vote in the impeachment trial of Andrew Johnson. His single vote made the difference. Had he voted guilty rather than for acquital, Andrew Johnson would have been removed from office. This would have been a real travesty since the principal charge against was a violation of law which was repealed soon after.
Now, we need another Edmund G.Ross, Who will he or she be? We need one Democratic Senator to vote no on health care. This will end this terrible piece of legislation that - as of this afternoon - over three-in-five Americans want defeated.
It only takes one vote to break from the 60. Will it be Nelson, Webb, Lieberman? Will it be someone not on the radar right now? It can be more than one vote. That would be great.
It only takes one. Please, someone be that one vote.

Steve, I wrote to Webb on Tuesday and called his office yesterday. I'm hoping he will vote against the bill. Liberman's wife was attacked. I'm not sure he can stand the heat. This is dirty politics at its worst.
Bonnie,
Thanks for your concern and your willingness to act. :)

Steve
Here is Jim Webbs contact address. Would not hurt any if our members shot him an email. You don't have to be from Va to let him know how you feel and encourage his no vote.

Nelson of Florida just said he would vote yes. Traitor to the country and to his state.
Isn't it Nelson from Nebraska who is the key hold out? Nelson from Fl isn't he a Doctor? I remember him from when I lived in Fl. He was pretty much on board all along I think. Could be wrong but I thought so.
Bonnie,
Thanks for passing that along. We'll do what we can. :)
Steve
Nicholas,
His vote was never in doubt. I called him several times to tell him to vote no, and his staffers made it seem like he had not made up his mind, but I knew he had. He also made a deal with Reid to carve out Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties to remian on Medicare Advantage even if the entire program tanks everywhere else. Ugly! :)
Steve
Bonnie,
Bill Nelson of Florida is on the Senate Finance Committee and voted for the bill there. Then his staffers made it seem he had some doubt, which i doubt. Ben Nelson of Nebraska appears to be the swing vote, or one of them. The Nebraska Governor (a Republican) did an interview tonight reporting that 73% of his residents do not want this bill. :)
Steve
So far, today at least, Nelson (Nebraska) will not vote for it. Certainly we need to convince Lincoln also not to vote yes.
Steve- It offends me almost as much as this socialist bill when the sens sell their vote like some are doing. These dems have no idea how much the indies are fired up about this mess! Just wait till the amnesty talk starts!
Mike,
Agreed. As many as we can keep in the "no" starting at 41, the better off we are. :)
Steve
Larry,
I am doubly offended - by Reid and Obama and their players for trying it and for the Senators that are throwing in. :)
Steve
Steve - Thanks for your insights... Just another horrendous bill about to be passed with little debate and largely block voting.
My concern is that if the Dems have one who chooses to vote no, which Republican will let themselves be bribed?
Thanks for the information Steve. I will act on it this morning.
What bill?
Has anyone other than the ones invited into Reids office read it?
The vapor bill...that will change our nation and more importantly the relationships between our Dr.s and the patients.
Ryan,
Welcome to the Obama-Reid-Pelosi three ring circus where they think that they need to get consent on everything them dream up. :)
Steve
Gary,
I have that same concern, and it is plausible that this could happen. :)
Steve
Kevin,
Thank you. :)
Steve
Missy,
It's much more invasive and comprehensive than that. Free enterprise and capitalism are at state as well as personal liberties and freedoms (Constitutionally guaranteed, I might add). :)
Steve
Do these politicians really want to be remembered in history as the ones who transformed our nation to socialism?
Jon,
Yes, I really think they do - in fact, they are committed to it. We have to put a stop to it! :)
Steve
We need more than just one...I talked to one of the congress people a week ago adn told that person they had no guts!
Who reads the bills? No one knows exactly what's in it because they keep amending it and adding more clauses that will strip Americans of services.
Keep calling. Keep emailing. Keep up the good work!
William,
Good job. Just telling the truth. :)
Steve
Bonnie,
Isn't this just insane? They keep everyone guessing as to what is in it. Many times - like this health care mess - they just vote the way the leadership tells them. :)
Steve
John,
That's about all we can do until November. Thanks. :)
Steve
We need to bring back tar and feathers.
It is ironic that the "Democrats" that claim to represent the majority won't respect the majority...
Lane,
Maybe the stocks. :)
