What this country needs right now is men and women of conscience, integrity, and conviction - in the Congress of the United States.
When Nancy Polosi and her warriors approach you and threaten you - or conversely promise you and your district the world if you vote her way - it's time to stand your ground and say "no." If you don't like her leadership, vote her out. You are not beholding to her. You should maintain your integrity and vote the will of your constituents.
This is not a popularity contest. She didn't elect you. Sure, peer pressure can make your day-to-day activities on the Hill a little less pleasant than just going along, but by maintaining a personal code and standing your ground, you may well outserve her and the others who cave to her every wish.
In the Senate, it is no different except that there are fewer of you. That's why you need to maintain your own standards. It's easier for us to track 100 than it is 435.
We need people to stand up not stand down. Why vote against what you really believe just to look like a team player or to scratch someone else's itch? If you don't agree with a bill, if you don't like the way the leadership is handling something, if you think the American people are getting a raw deal, speak out.
That we will respect - and even applaud.
Don't count on Americans forgetting the way they used to and just reelecting you anyway. With social media being what it is, we will remember and discuss your mis-steps.

Steve, there are too many pieces of bread that want butter and Nancy has the knife.
Glen Beck has a new 9/12 program he is starting. he will be in Orlando March 27th. The only hope is to make this a clean sweep and get new blood.
They are all counting on the short term memory we voters tend to have. I am going to so enjoy the events unfold in the next year.
Bonnie,
This Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid "buy-your-vote-for-cash" bribe program ought to be illegal. I'm tired of it, and it sounds like more and more people are as well. :)
Steve
Bob,
That was then. Now we have blogs. People may tend to forget, but they are going to be reminded about it daily. :)

Featured in Tea Party!
Kevin,
Thank you. This is an honor. :)

Steve, You are right about the blogs and other social media. We have a powerful tool to communicate almost instantly. We can keep each other abreast of the issues on a local, state and national level as they happen.
Where do you find people of integrity? The pickings are slim. We need more ordinary simple people who love our country and practice metering out common sense instead of cash incentives.
The Mary Mary payoff was so disgusting. I agree that blatant behavior should be illegal and the American public should demand accountability.
Bonnie,
One of the issues with good representation is the size of the districts and what it takes to become known well enough to win. It takes millions of dollars to wage a successful campaign. That necessarily limits it to just a few people who can ever run. :)
Steve
Steve, The census is critical to determining the districts. No Acorn wanted to have a hand in it. I hope that is dead for good.
The "Leadership" is counting on their friends in the media to distract us with great tales of who is boinking whom in Hollywood and other meaningless crap.
Bonnie,
The Census deal is dead but not the public funding of Acorn. :)
Steve
Lane,
It definitely is the big shell game with distraction being a key part. :)
