First the President asked General McChrystal for an assessment of Afghanistan prior to the decision he needed to make about prosecuting the war. That was clear back in August. Then then were meetings, feet-dragging, more meetings, and promises of a decision "in the coming weeks."
Then there was that meaningful 30-minute meeting with McChrystal in Denmark that was squeezed in during the Olympics' sales pitch for Chicago to host the 2016 Games.
Then there was a video conference at the White House. Then probably more meetings that we don't know about.
Oh, and the delay for the Afghan runoff election - before it was canceled.
Yesterday, the President was said to be considering 4 options.
Today, we are back to the drawing board. He's thrown them all out. Three months of dilly-dallying out the window. How convenient to have all of these excuses.
If there is a serious, honest reason for not making a decision, then tell us what it is. You don't have to go into detail, but tell us why you can't make the decision and what the determining factor is. Short of that, make the decision already.

Steve: Such a cynical attitude. How dare the President have meetings that he didn't tell you about ! What does he think he is ? The President of The United States ? The nerve...
I think Obama really was hoping that President Karzai would be defeated... and he would have Abdullah Abdullah to work with... which, from what I can tell, would have been a good thing. Karzai seems surrounded by, and involved in, corruption. That means he's probably in an administration similar to Bush/Cheney... so the track record and fear of him being corrupt is understandable.
Steve - Even the Europeans are speculating if our President is incapable of providing what is needed most.
A recent article in Spiegel Online ended with: "Europeans are still looking for one thing from the White House: leadership."
Karen,
You missed the point. He was elected to make the tough decisions. So far he has refused to do so. :)
Steve
John,
How about that? :)
Steve
Steve, be patient - he's just waiting for more poll results to come in! :-)
Mike

It does seem that Obama can only make decisions involving removing resources from those that have to those that do not have whether it be individuals or corps.
Mike,
Is that what it is? OK. :)
Steve
Ross,
Just make the decision. That's all. :)
Steve
His weakness has brought terrorism once again to our shores. Very sad.
Ross: I thought you were more original than that. Come on... you can do better. What I said about Karzai is true.
How about making a comment that contains a positive idea. Just exactly what would you do ? Tell us... inquiring minds want to know.
How about you taking your own advice Karen Anne, and comment with something besides bashing Bush.
Hi, Steve. While he's vacillating, troops are dying. While he's at Camp David, the Bushes went to Ft. Hood to be with the victims and their families---with no fanfare---I might add. Yes, the president is busy, doing what, that's what the troops want to know.
Bob,
You viewpoint is well-received because of your service. :)
Steve
Yolanda,
The longer he waits, the more difficult he makes it. :)
Steve
I'll take a wild guess at the reason he's doing nothing.
His friends and supporters, the leftists, are anti war for any reason. The rest of the country actually has a conscience, and doesn't want to see our troops dieing because we're undermanned. Therefore, the adults in the country will eventually call to bring our under-supported troops home, out of harms way. At that point a majority of Americans will support bringing them home. Mission accomplished! We'll just need to ignore the soldiers who die while he plays this transparent political game, but would you expect anything different from the most corrupt administration in modern history?
Jon,
If he didn't want to be Commander-in-Chief, he shouldn't have applied for the position. :)
Steve
When I hire a carpenter for my business, I expect him to make good decisions on the fly. That is part of his (or her) pay. Quick, effective decision making is what seperates good leaders from bad leaders. The gap between the two types becomes painfully obvious as more decisions are required.

Kevin,
Well said. Thank you. :)
