As Americans, don't we want what we're entitled to ...
- free health care
- free college education
- free car insurance to go with our free car
- free child care, and
- free time from that job that pays us more money than we need?
No, most of actually don't want this - some do, most don't.
If all of this was free, then we really wouldn't need to work very hard, and we wouldn't have any choices because everything would be provided.
If you think having everything free sounds good, listen again. I don't think you'll like what you're hearing.
I know I don't.

But Steve, isn't this the democratic way?
Your friend in Washington State!
Paul
Steve - Most only look to what they're receiving or what they want, and never bother taking it to its logical conclusion.
Steve, There will always be people with their hand out waiting for more and feeling they are entitled without taking responsibility and being accountable. Help those who need it, put the others to work!
Steve, Even though I also believe that most people don't want everything just handed to them, i feel that government thinks that it is the way to do things. They want to provide everything -- and for all the free things they provide, they take a little more free away from freedom.
Steve
Let see if everything in the country were to be free, then we wouldn't have to work, that a great deal. groverment wouldn'tbe able to tax us because we don't work but we would get everything for free. Everyone in Washington would lose their jobs, because there are no taxes and they woundn'thave to work, and they could get everything for free. Everyone in the country won't have to work, because everything is free.
I was told a long time ago that's there's no free luck, and anything that's free has conditions.
Good luck and success.

Paul,
Only of late. It's not the American way that I have known. :)
Steve
John,
There is a big tendency to "look out for #1" that is driving this. :)
Steve
Wanda,
While there will always be those who need the help, we shouldn't be enticing or encouraging the others to live this way. :)
Steve
Gary,
The federal government has ignored the constitutional limits to their authority and is trying to control our lives. :)
Steve
Lou,
Thanks. No free lunch, you're right. Even governmnet can't do what they want to do - they just don't know it yet. :)
Steve
Nothing is really free, but some people want the dream of money for nothing.
Larry,
You're right. It's an illusion, but many people are willing to be intentionally misled this way. :)
Steve
Silly me, I thought that what we wanted was ACCESS to health care, education, etc., but that we had CHOICE in America. What fun would it be if everything was free and we had no choice?
Can you see it now with every single car on the road exactly alike, pumping gas at government owned gas stations that all look alike and offer exactly the same services, driving to restaurants that have the same menu with zero variety to accommodate our personal taste, shopping at grocery stores that have just one brand (government-owned) of each food and beverage product...
By the way, without choice in the market place, who would have a job for all those companies no longer in business, and who would pay for everything that's free, without wage earners to tax...
Steve, the mentality has shifted from "I've worked hard to get what I have", to "We're entitled, our government should continue to borrow more than it takes in and those who oppose this idea are stupid and selfish". Guess most have lost sight of the America we all grew up in and love. Great post Steve.
Steve..I never received anything for FREE i have had to work hard all my life for everything I have have...Would be nice to have everthing handed to me for fREE but in my DREAMS..:0)
Margaret,
Welcome to communism. :)
Steve
Suesan,
Thank you. We have lost sight, and our government is enabling us because they want it this way. :)
Steve
Hannah,
Those that have never really earned what they have don't appreciate or respect what it has taken. That's why we are in the mess we're in. :)
Steve
Steve - the more things are subsidized, the more expensive and the less free they get. Just look at the cost of college education.
Mike,
That now government controls through the student loans. :)
Steve
Steve.. I agree. If everything were free, you would have NO drive to do anything in your life. You respect and appreciate things more in life when you work for them.
I think everyone needs a *helping hand* now and then... NOT a *Hand out*.
Valerie,
The issue is that a hand out soon becomes both hands out. It stiffles personal initiative. :)
Steve
To take the so called policies of this administration one step further, why don't we all do what we please, and have the govt. send us money every time we run out? To intelligent people this is ridiculous, but to Liberals, I could probably get elected to office!
Jon,
You have a point on the money, but they have to be in control of what we do. :)
Steve
So many people don't know where "free" stuff comes from. Just look at the women interviewed abou the "free money" in Detriot! They said it was from obama..."from his stash". This shows the level of ignorance we are dealing with.
Everyone watch New York come about a year from now. Why? Because the earners and creators of jobs are fleeing that state like a sinking ship. (The ones actually paying the taxes) Things ought to get real interesting there about next year.
