This Is What's Wrong With Congress

Aside from the fact that Congress is severly underworked and overpaid, the don't seem to want to do their jobs at all.

First, they are way too busy to read the measures that they vote on.

Now, with two version of the health care bill in the Senate and 3 in the House, apparently they can't handle this either. Members joked that their staffers would be working all weekend on trying to merge the bills. Their staffers? Since when did we elect them? Who are they?

This is not the government I signed on for.

You take our money during the campaign, and take lobbyists money after elected, and make promises about what you can do, and then you claim that you didn't read the bill you voted on so you think we'll give you a pass and not hold you responsible for what's in it, and now you want to delegate a constitutional power to a staffer that nobody knows to write a bill that you still won't read and that will spend more money than we have - because your idealistic staffers think it's a good idea?

This is what is wrong with Congress - and I don't see it getting fixed with the bunch that's in there now.

Your Preaching to Chior, Steve. I wish they would all loosen the neck ties and let the oxygen return to their brains.

Greg,

That's a good way of expressing this. How did we get here? :)

This is not the government you and I signed up for, but I can tell you there are many people who just LOVE the people we have in office!!!  Can you say USSA?

Kim... I totally agree with you about USSA.  What happened to the *AMERICAN* backbone?  Why does everything have to be politically correct.  We might hurt someones feels... GET OVER IT.. AND GET OVER YOURSELF.

Come time to vote let's take out the trash and vote all incumbents out, ALL even the good have to go to get new folks that can vote for term limits and young and energetic enough to read.

Charles,

I agree - all have to go. Terms limits are a great idea but won't work without a constitutional amendment to allow recall or impeachment of Representatives and Senators. :)

Steve - The "bunch that are in there" have shown they can't or won't do their jobs, but until if enough of us demand term limits and only vote in those who support it, it won't be passed.

Steve, Each day that passes puts us closer to 2010.  Since they don't hear us now, we'll have to put it in writing so they can ready their exit notices.

John,

The first step is to vote out everyone - even those that might be good. :)

Steve, it's apparent they don't have any fear of the electorate. They know if they can gain more control over our personal affairs (health care), they can rule over us.

Posted by Jon Budish - CDPE (Remax Action Brokers, CDPE - Northern Colorado) over 2 years ago

Jon,

It's as if they tolerate us to stay in office and after that we are irrelevant. :)
