Yesterday, Harry Reid, majority leader of the US Senate, said that he promised unanimous Democratic Party support in the Senate for "whatever strategy" the President eventually decided on as far as waging the war in Afghanistan.
Unanimous support? No one is allowed to voice a dissenting opinion? Separation of powers? No debate?
Whatever strategy? That could include a lot - maybe something not everyone agrees with.
Seems a little inclusive and premature without any details. Want to rethink that position, Harry?

In my opinion that statement alone is proof this man should not be reelected in 2010.
These morons dont have a clue.
We the People need to demand more and better.
It is appauling that our Country has brave men and women risking their lives, while these idiots go to "pitch themselves" for the olympics ...what are they studying? the General says we need troops...
I for the life of me can not understand why we would put soldiers in harms way and not provide them unlimited access to the arsenal of weapons that are at the disposal of the United States. Hearing that soldiers call for air support and they dont get it infuriates me. Why do we develop this stuff if not for full implementation during battle?
YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!
In my opinion, Mr Reid should speak for himself and let the representatives vote for their constituents views...
Make the most from every day!
Paul
Steve...that is taking voting the party line to new heights, That statement is incredibly scary, Might be time to retire Mr. Reid?
But then again, if they were open and transparent in their policies, there would be an even louder outcry from the public.
Steve, When I was in school it seemed that all the talk was about the ineptitude and corruption in foreign governments. But it is really hard to conceive of a government that cares less about its citizens than the US govt. And unfortunately, it seems to get worse every day. Not only should Mr. Reid retire, but it would be great if all the current politicians retired. I would love to see all elective offices limited to one term. Of course, then the bureaucrats would probably have even more control than they have now.
Steve - haven't the repubs been unanimously voting against anything the dems propose since 2006 regardless of its merit? They don't have to read any bills to know which way to vote, just look at who sponsored it and vote no from the party of no.
Steve
Our elect official have lost sight of what the votes want and don't want. We need to stay vocal.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Alice,
I agree. Would love to see someone else's name on his seat. :)
Steve
Joseph,
Your disgust and anguish is echoed by many others. :)
Steve
Steve - I find it hard to believe that even Reid believed what he was saying. But I don't believe that his priorities have ever been with the men and women serving over there and certainly not with actually winning any war.
John - if you actually had been paying attention to all going on in congress since 2007 (when the democrats took over) you would actually know that the answer to your question is no. And you would also no that the party of no has been the democrats.
Paul,
I agree. There is too much pressure for everyone to speak together on an issue. :)
Steve
Steve,
Very definitely. It is well past time in fact. :)
Steve
Jon,
And that might insure that none of their nonsense was ever passed - a very good thing. :)
Steve
Gary,
I think one term has merit, but it could backfire - someone pushes through something totally outlandish because they know they don't have to be accountable for it. :)
Steve
John,
When it comes to most new government spending, we all need to say no, regardless of party. :)
Steve
Lou,
I agree, We have to keep the pressure on. There will be people elected in 2010 who get it. :)
Steve
Mike,
Thanks. I see a lot of insincerity and political posturing in Washington. :)
Steve
Harry is arrogant, cocky and should pack his bags! By the way, something priceless...Harry and Nancy sitting at the bus station..what a picture!
Gary,
Send me a copy of that picture when it happens. Looking forward to it. :)
