Let's Admit It, We're Stupid

Let's admit it, we're stupid - we must be by the way we let Congress run all over us.

They are rushing through massive, game-changing legislation that we don't want, don't need, and can't pay for before we get a chance to examine it because they say we are too stupid to know what's good for us.

A provision to post the health care bill on the internet for 72 hours (scaled back from 7 days) was removed. We might discover something we don't want. Can't have that.

However, many Congresspeople are stupid, too. They do what they are told. They are told not to read the bills and just to vote for them.

We'll see how stupid Members of Congress think we are a year from now at election time.

We must be stupid for putting up with this, but we can redeem ourselves.

Beginning now, let's insist that nothing gets passed until after the new Congress is elected next November. That means no health care, no cap and trade, no budget, no appropriations (except possibly military soending), no anything. Tell them to go home and chill.

If we re-elect any of these people who openly challenge our ability to think for ourselves by belittling our interests and voting for larger government, more spending, more controls, more bailouts, more takeovers, and less personal choices and freedoms, we really are stupid and we deserve to have our country taken away from us.

OK, but how do you resolve it?  We now have a one party government that the media loves. Do we have to wait another year and half for the next congressional elections?

Steve,

I am sure next round of elections for members of Congress will be very indicative of the real mood in America.

Steve - Do you honestly believe we don't need "game-changing" legislation?

Posted by Stewart Penn - Los Angeles Real Estate (Penn Properties) over 2 years ago

They all need pink slips. They need to listen to the people and remember that our country has documents they are supposed to abide by. Our elected officials should not be mocking what the American people want just because it goes against their wants.

Yes we need game changing legislation. We need term limits and an end to their version of the golden parachute.

Kent,

Actually we do unless we can create a total gridlock climate. That's what I want to see. Nothing considered, nothing passed. :)

Jon,

I am as well, but we still have a few more months to get through. :)

It sounds like you must by your response, but I do not. :)

Kim,

All we need is a return to the Constitution. Most of what Congress does is not allowed by the Constitution. :)

Let's hope we can all come together in 2010 for real change, that we can live with. These folks are so arrogant, I just cannot believe it. I am preparing to take the year off and go coast to coast to help where ever I can.

This administration ran on a platform of transparency... and allowing 5 days before signing legislation.  The Congressional leadership vowed to be transparent and allow the public to see legislation before voting on it...

And they lied.

These boobs are about to find out just how stupid smart the American people are.

Maybe they think we're too stupid to find the polling place, too.

That is a real commitment to help save the ideals and principles of this country. Thank you. :)

Lane,

You can't use that word anymore. Oh, that's right, it's just Congress that has restricted free speech. :)

Bob,

And we had better not lose any of our spirit between now and the election. The time for endless second chances is over. :)

Patrick,

You might be right about that. I'm sure they are thinking that they've pulled another one over on us. :)

Every Congressman is out of touch and needs to be fired in the election - oh except my guy.  He is OK.  That's the American attitude and why we seem to get trampled on year after year.

They know we aren't stupid, which is exactly why they want to keep the details of their bills hidden. Their only strength is keeping the electorate ignorant, which they've managed to do with total cooperation of the mainstream media.

Funny how at first we try to defend the people we voted for and justify their actions, we are really defending our decision to vote for them.  Finally, it is 'wow, how could I have been so gullible'.

I know what you are saying, but put my guy at the head of the list to be fired. :)

You are correct about keeping us in the dark, and they are counting on America's large heart and ability to forgive. :)

Virgina,

In many cases it wanting to belive what they say, but we have to be realistic. Very few people running for Congress can do what they promise because of the institution itself. :)

I'm unelectable...  And the list is long.  To start with, I would call the President a liar when he is lying.  And the Speaker.  And the media.
