Turnips For Congress

Have you ever heard that you can't get blood out of a turnip? Apparently Congress hasn't.

Yesterday, the City of Chicago closed down for the day to save money. No government workers or city services. They already have planned 2 more "free" days this year.

Denver and Dallas have already done this as well, and other cities are contemplating such actions.

Of course, we know that California is broke, and other States are having financial issues also.

Unemployment is way up, along with foreclosures and late pays.

Home sales are down, incomes are off. Consumer confidence is weak. This impacts purchases and retail sales.

So, just where does the government think it's going to get all the money they need to fund their giant giveaway programs?

How can you raise income taxes and enact health care and energy taxes? The money just ins't there.

Let's send a message to Congress. Maybe we should all send them turnips - perhaps wrapped in a pink slip.

Squeeze that turnip hard enough and it just might bleed.  Steve, I've been asking those questions since Bush started all this.  It's pure insanity.  We really need to fight this frivolous spending.

Bob,

There has to be something in the water in Washington. :)

Now Steve, I like turnips in my stew, let us not underplay the value of a good turnip.

Steve:  What is the limit on our governments' Chinese credit card?  The way they continue to spend, spend, spend...it must be one of those nifty black cards with no limit.

Steve,

It's the symbolism, but if Congress can make them into a stew they're welcome to do it. :)

Joetta,

If no one notices, maybe they could do it more often. :)

Chris Ann,

Oh, there's a limit. They just haven't found out how close they are yet. :)

Steve, Brush up on your Chinese.  They need some place to send their masses.  Pretty soon they will own the U.S.  May be they will get the contract to provide health care.

Bonnie,

China is a big country. They don't need the US - we do. :)
