Active Rain Members Come Through For Me

Thursday, I started trying to get my firefox (3.0.11) to work correctly after it just stopped functioning. I posted about my frustrations and got some great comments. The best advice came from Gail MacMillan. I wish I had some type of prize to give you - though this was not a contest.

Firefox just stopped running. I downloaded and reinstalled an earlier version (3.0.4) as well as the current upgrade (3.0.11) that was working before it let me down. Interestingly it still works on 2 other machines that I have.

So, I went back to IE 7 - it wasn't as horrible as I remembered, but within 5 minutes of opening a few windows I got a "runtime error" and everything went away. That was close - I could have lost some work.

Google Chrome was suggested, so I used it for a couple of days. Not bad actually - better than when it first came out several months ago. Still quirky.

Then today, Gail suggests firefox 3.5 beta. It works, I'm using it now, and it is so close in the size of the published material to IE that all is well.

Another success story in the annals of AR.

Steve, I also think that there should be some kind of award given to certain people on AR. Most of us are helpful if we can, but some go to long distances to help others:) For me, it was Dan Callahan. :) He was and still is very helpful. But overall, AR community proved itself many times:) There is always somebody to count on here:)

Hi Steve I am glad that all worked out for you.  I got the blog because I too use firefox.  Isn't it funny or maybe just a habit that we members are so in tune with all the other members..that.. AR is the first place we call for help.

Someone always answer...how about that..says something about the commardery in the industry..Huh

Joanna,

Well said. I think that we have some real caring, knowledgeable, and helpful people here on AR that will do what they can within their own skill sets whenever they can. :)

June,

What's a network for if you can't reach out to it? Keep a good thought that it continues to work. :)

Paul,

Thanks. I think we all try to help each other - sometimes that help is a little more specialized. :)

Mary,

It's really great when people express themselves through their comments also - instead of the "nice post" type of response. Thanks. :)

That's great to hear of the support right here on AR.  If you need help, someone is usually right there ready to pitch in.  I'll check out the new Beta version, thanks for the tip.
