I am a Blackberry phone user - not for all of the texting and web access because I don't find that real convenient. I just happen to like the size and audio quality of the Blackberry. I am now on my 4th model upgrade. I have the Curve.
That said, Apple is quietly pursuing me. Everyone around me seems to have an iPhone.
It seems like there isn't a week that goes by that Apple or AT&T isn't announcing a new application for their iPhone.
The one I read about this morning got my attention.
Zillow just announced that they have created an application for the iPhone that lets us look at the value of any home that we see as we are walking by, driving by, or standing their with customers - based on the most recent sales price. We can even do an entire block. It can also display where we are on a map and show recent sales.
This could cause me to rethink the iPhone.

Hi Steve
My next cell phone will be an apple.
Good luck and success
Lou Ludwig
I saw the Zillow app the other day posted by Sarah Bonnert from Zillow... and I sent her a message: Where is the Crackberry App???
I am a loyal BB user, it works better for business than any other phone, is seemless with outlook, and the touch screen is nice, but I cant see actually typing on it as being practical. you need the "feel" of the keys to be efficient!
I had a Blackberry Curve until about a month ago, and then converted. I'm not sad that I did. I don't work for apple and will earn nothing for this shameless plug, but I'd suggest that you make the conversion.
Lou,
You know me and cell phones. Might as well give it a try. :)
Steve
Robert,
Since I tend to have a light touch anyway I don't think that will be an issue. :)
Steve
Melissa,
Thank you. I consider that to be a very high recommendation. :)
Steve
Steve: As unreasonable as Zillow's "zestimates" can be, that wouldn't be a feature worth anything to me.
My business partner got one and one of the greatest items I love on the Iphone is the Mlxchange AP. Just click the AP and no need to put in a pass-code and security code.
Chris Ann,
I got the impression that this was based on recorded sales data. :)
Steve
Tim,
Great feature. Thanks for sharing that one as well. :)
Steve
I have a Blackberry Curve, too, and just came back from a real estate conference where the majority were using the Iphone. Lots of great applications on it.
Steve, I have an iPhone and all the features come at a price...battery life. It can be easily managed though. Each of the services turns on a different radio, not unlike a Blackberry. Phone, 3G, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth. If everything was on all the time you probably wouldn't get through the day. I turn them on/off as necessary. Rich
Li,
It kind of seems like they're ganging up on us, doesn't it? :)
Steve
Rich,
I hardly get through the day with just the phone now. Many days I recharge by 4:00. :)
Steve
Technology, technology, technology, I'm just getting familiar with the Curve and now I'm already dated. I still believe the best Apple is a chilled baldwin.
Keep in mind the days when the debate was Blackberry versus Palm. The same was said back then, the Palm had all kinds of apps while the Blackberry only had email. But they did email very, very well and is the #1 device for business. I don't see that stature changing because of the iPhone.
Ed,
I've been fighting it, but they keep sweetening the deal. :)
Steve
Richard,
The emails are what got me to drop them on the Blackberry. I like the phone not the other stuff. :)
Steve
Lock your doors Steve and stay away from the windows. I will send the Blackberry people over with the Blackberry Bold and ATT&T will still get your money!
Paul,
Thanks for the warning. I'm under my desk typing this. :)
Steve
Apple does seem to have an appealing product but I just like my Blackberry Curve....if my eyes were only a bit better though!
Gary,
Isn't that something? We need things smaller and smaller that contain more and more info, and we can't even see how to use them? :)
Steve
Since T-mobile is the only cell service that rings in our home -- all our cell phones must be T-mobile , until the other carriers start putting up more towers - so no I-phone for us.
Bob and Carolin,
In a way, that makes it real simple to decide which phones to use. :)
Steve
I got my iPhone in January and have really enjoyed it so far. Never had a Blackberry, but I happily switched over from my Treo.
Ann,
Good to hear that you're happy with your phone. I've never had a Treo. :)
Steve
I have a Blackberry as well and it's by far the best phone I've ever owned.
I've played around with the IPhone and it's really quite fun. If they ever lose their connection with AT&T, I'll consider one.
I do think though that as the IPhone garners more market share, Blackberry will offer more free and pay "apps" to remain competitive.
Craig,
I'm not sure that Blackberry will follow suit. They could have done this 3 years ago and beat Apple before they ever came out of the gate - for whatever they chose not to. :)
Steve
Steve, there are so many cool apps for the iPhone I can't even name them all here. I LOVE my iPhone! I have all my email accounts on there, I just type in a street and my GPS finds it for me, it takes great pictures, and I can surf the net from anywhere! Texting is really simple and once you get used to it, it's no problem to type without the 'feel' of a key. It has a function that can make a sound when you type a letter if you like. I tweet, use FB, and can browse Active Rain once I figure out how to do it! (I downloaded Brad's card but there are a couple more steps.)
As to battery, I have it plugged in right now to my Macbook. I keep the plug with me so I can plug it in at the office or I use the car charger. Actually, the One to One guy showed me how to change some settings so it lasts me the entire day unless I'm really using the internet alot. Then the car charger or computer charger get the job done.
I'm sure the Blackberry is competent, but the iPhone is competent and definitely more FUN!
Frank and Sharon,
Sounds great, but I don't have a Mac and probably won't get one, but other than that, sounds good. :)
Steve
Steve - We just upgraded our telephones to the Blackberry Storm. GPS, MP3 player, photo, video, internet and much more is at your finger tips. If you like the Blackberry Curve, you will love the Blackberry Storm.
Ryan,
I don't use any of the applications on the Curve - just the phone. I do like the Apple application, however. Does the Storm offer any like those? :)
