A some point you have to get started

Preparation is vitally important for being a success in real estate or any other endeavor. Imagine Michael Phelps just showing up at the pool and setting a new world record without any practice or even warm-up prior to the event. Clearly it wouldn't happen.

On the other hand, what if he never competed but just spent hours and hours each day, for weeks on end, swimming and training and practicing? We'd never know how good he was except for what we saw in practices, and the world would never get to appreciate his talent.

Take any profession or pursuit. There is is a time for getting ready and a time for doing. We go to school for 12 years or so, then we can go on to college. Some go on to grad school, and some even get a PhD. But unless we want to be a professional student - earning an income as a student - we eventually have to do something.

I could list many other examples and illustrations, but the point is very clear. In order to make sales, in order to be productive, in order to make an income, and in order to serve the consumer, at some point we have to stop getting ready and actually do.

There are many salespeople who could be good, but they never throw themselves totally into selling. They approach it cautiously. They do a little when they could do so much more. They think that if they just practiced a little more or studied a little more that they might be a better salesperson.

Commitment, action, courage. Just get started - really started. Find something to get enthusiastic or passionate about and really go all out.
