Good Luck, Wells-Fargo

Wachovia was a bank that never quite had it together. They took over for samller banks. They were on every street corner in some areas due to the acquisitions and mergers. The were a small bank trying to act big without the small bank service or charm.

Tomorrow more branches are set to take down the Wachovia sign and become Wells-Fargo. Here's to hoping that Wells-Fargo can resurrect a failing brand and provide some real mortgage services and customer satisfaction.

Mixed Banking News From Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo - love the stage coach, by the way - has announced plans to hire more than 1,000 workers for its mid-Atlantic region (Maryland, DC, and Virginia) in its rebranding of the former Wachovia locations. The positions at some 404 locations will be tellers, branch managers, and personal bankers.

While adding 1,000 or more more private sector positions to the employment roles is great news, the mixed part of this news is no focus on loan processors, loan originators, or business consultants. Sounds like a lot of front end help with no back office support where businesses and consumers need it most.

Maybe with more people to greet the public and attend to normal transactions more people will be available to help in lending matters.
