Yard trimming as a contact sport

I love yard work - and it's a good thing. I find it relaxing. I have been away from it for the better part of 3 months after my melanoma surgery, so this weekend I plunged in all the way.

First, I put on long pants to keep from getting my legs cut-up as severely as they would without that thin layer of cloth protection. I get plenty of cuts and bruises anyway from sharp branches and hand tools. The pants also hide the bruises and soak up the blood from the incidental scratches.

Then I wear a long sleeve shirt - for the same reason as above plus to protect my incision which is close to being healed - and to ward off sunburns. Then I don a sweatband, hat, goggles, and leather gloves.

You might be wondering how I can even move. It's not a pretty sight, but I get the job done.

Then there's those wasps, mosquitoes, biting ants, and other insects.

Like I say, I love yard work - I really do.
