To paraphrase a line from Lloyd Benson in his televised debate with Dan Quayle, President Obama is no Jack Kennedy.
JFK gave us a national challenge of putting a man safely on the moon and returning him to earth in the 1960s - a challenge we met in July, 1969.
Because of the space program, we have so many advances in computers, technology, energy, communication, robotics, and the list goes on.
There should not be one person in Congress that opposes the extension of the space program. If they can find money for clunkers, TARP, GM, AIG, Citi, and others, there is absolutely no reason they can't do this. If Obama doesn't want it, let him be the odd man out. Override his veto or insert it in the budget anyway.
There are 535 Members of Congress. Only one President.
Here is George LeMieux's (Florida) impassioned plea for the space program.
