Twitter Unveils New Service

To attach a link to a tweet, we can post the entire link or use a URL shortner such as bit.ly, ow.ly, or several others. That is until now.

Twitter is offering to shorten links to 19-characters with a "t.co" and up to 15 other characters. However, once the tweet is posted within the 140-character limit with the "t.co" shortened version, the actual link will display and viewers will not see the t.co version. This will let us post more content on a tweet.

This is an optional service that will begin soon. We can still post the entire link within the 140-character limit, use another link shortener of our choice, or use the new t.co version.
